Auto Shipping Pricing: More or Less
Monday, January 2nd, 2012| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
The cheapest way to get that classic car or family sedan transported over many miles is by auto carrier. Auto shipping offer a safe and inexpensive way to get your car to its new location. You know the cost of fuel today as well as the possible cost of car maintenance and repair of driving your car yourself long distances. For those in the know, and there are more and more of those all the time, the auto shipping industry is a first choice for vehicle transportation. The customer nonetheless assumes some risk when hiring even the most reliable and most experienced auto carriers. One must be cautious and diligent in their search. You must review insurance policies and past experience and performance with shipping similar vehicles, especially if yours is exotic. Hauling an expensive, custom, or vintage car requires different safeguards than that Ford Taurus. The pricing aspects of such vehicles will also differ substantially. Pricing is determined by the manufacturer and model of the vehicle, the distance to be transported, the drop-off and pick-up sites and your required time-frame. Some peculiar, out of the way destinations may require out of the way services, and precise destination, rather than only the distance, is important for the service provider to know what conditions to expect along the way. A good company should inform you of any road or weather conditions which might be harmful to the vehicles transported and offer services which will suitably prevent any damage or unwanted circumstances. The cost of transportation will increase if your vehicle is especially large and heavy, like a big SUV, taking up more than the usual space inside the carrier and not allowing the company to load its usual number of vehicles. Some exotic cars, especially old collector cars, have odd dimensions, but such vehicles may require special handling, regardless of size and weight. Since you also want to insure your car while it is handled by the company, buying an adequate policy from the company you have decided to go with is another factor in the final pricing. Your regular car insurance may not cover the dangers posed to your car during shipping and of the various policies usually available in any standard company, it is better to buy the costlier one. If your car is not drivable, then preparations must be made to have a truck pick it up from a location you state rather than the standard terminal, and shove it or tow it to its location on the carrier. Same service is in effect when it reaches its destination. These circumstance requires a separate truck and separate service from the norm. A fully operable vehicle is, of course, the preferred one to transport. No matter, you need to hire the auto shipping company as early as you can before the shipping date, and try for off-season if possible. The longer you hold off on deciding on a transport company, the costlier it will be for you. I’m talking here well over a month in advance. If your car’s prior condition results in damage while in transit, besides the inconvenience of waiting for the car to be repaired, the final price could spiral out of sight. Necessary Items To Think About When Deciding On An Auto Transport Carrier
Sunday, January 1st, 2012| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
A car is a valuable asset that needs to be protected. Not only is there a monetary value to our vehicle, we often are emotionally attached and physically dependent on our vehicles to transport us from one place to another. When a vehicle needs to be moved a long distance, it is important that it have good care. When you must choose an auto transport company, you need to be diligent in your search in order for that vehicle to arrive at the new destination without damage. These tips should help you in choosing a safe and reliable auto transport company. Seek out a shipping company which has a very good reputation. Use the internet and search to check out the companies. If a company has a bad reputation a quick internet search will let you see reviews of several dissatisfied customers. Look for a site that gives you more than just a star rating if possible. You will want to know both what happened and how the company tried to resolve the problem. You need a feel for how the company deals with problems as well as the problems that happened. If the majority of reviews are negative, it is probably best to stay away from that company and to choose a different carrier. Inquire with the company to be sure that they have the necessary licenses to move your vehicle. They should have a federal license as well as the necessary insurance and bond requirements. If the carrier is legitimate, they should have no problem in showing you this paperwork. Ask the company about the insurance that they carry to cover any damage your car may receive during transportation. Also ask about any limitations or exclusions that may be included. There are some risks in transporting a car that may not be covered. Flying rocks can cause damage to the vehicle, and it is unlikely that the insurance of the auto transport company will pay for dings to the paint or even broken glass. Most companies offer different options for shipping your vehicle. Not every company will offer every option, so check to see what is available. With the open shipping method your vehicle is simply loaded in an open trailer. While less expensive, cars are more susceptible to damage from the elements. If it is storm season, there is the possibility of hail damage. Flying gravel can also cause problems. Enclosed shipping puts your vehicle in an enclosed trailer and it is unlikely that flying objects will cause damage to the vehicle. If you have a very new vehicle, a specialty vehicle or an antique automobile, the extra expense may be worth the extra cost. Economy service cost less but may take more time to get your vehicle where you need it to be. The vehicle may change trailers several times in the process of getting to your new home and spend a few days between locked in a secure storage yard. If you are not in a big hurry to get the vehicle where you eventually will need it, this can save money. Full service is the quickest way to get you vehicle to its new destination and usually includes door to door service. How To Organize Your Workshop For Ease Of Access And Safety
Tuesday, December 20th, 2011| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
Whether you are using your garage or have a separate tool shed, organization is important. For one, it helps you find the things you need and secondly, it keeps you and your loved ones from falls, injuries, poisoning as well as fires. Below are some workshop organizing and safety tips. Garage organization Make use of see-through lidded plastic containers to organize and store your tools and carpentry supplies. To make your life easier, it is best to store accessories and supplies with or near the tools they are used with. Remember to label them properly as well, or better yet, use pictures to mark the containers. It would be a good idea to install shelves in your workshop too. That way, your containers don’t take up valuable floor space. Just remember to anchor the shelves to the wall and not overload them to avoid tip overs. At the same time, keep in mind that bigger and heftier tools should be placed nearest to the floor and those you need most often in places that are within arm’s reach. Using tool cabinets is a great way to maintain a clutter-free garage or workshop. At the same time, they extend the service life of your hand and power tools since they are not exposed to the elements. There are several kinds of tool cabinets available, but it would be a good idea to buy one with wheels so you can transport it to other parts of your home as necessary. As you did with the plastic containers, remember to label your tool cabinet’s drawers. To keep the items placed in them sorted out and easy to find, placing dividers in them would be a wise move as well. Prevent injuries in your workshop Sharp and electrical tools should be placed inside a locked tool cabinet so that children cannot get to them. To protect yourself and your family from nasty falls and slips, always check for items that are left of the floor of your workshop and place them back on the shelves or cabinet where they belong. For the same purpose, you have to promptly remove spilt grease and slippery substances on the floor to avoid accidents. It would make sense to install bright lights in your garage as well. Always have an adult to watch over the kids when they are inside the workshop, and never leave them out of sight. More kids die from injuries and accidental poisoning or choking than from diseases. You don’t want your kid to be part of that statistics just because of some oversight on your part. Furthermore, under no circumstances should you store fuel within your workshop or your home for that matter as the tiniest of sparks can cause an explosion if vapor from those chemicals leak out. In addition, store chemicals in a place that cannot be accessed by your kid and have those substances under lock and key as well. Do not place those substances in hot areas as these can explode as well. While organizing your workshop does require some time, money, and patience to pull off, it is nonetheless rewarding. Besides, it would be much more cumbersome to work in a cluttered garage. Tool cabinets are great products to use to keep your garage clutter-free. Having a tool cabinet also provides safety as sharp tools and harmful chemicals can be stored in lock-and-key. Get pointers on how to organize and keep the garage safe by following this link. |
How To Pay For A Car When Purchasing It Online
Thursday, November 3rd, 2011| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
There are two methods for paying for any vehicle you purchase, whether in the dealership or with a private seller: cash and financing. If you have cash you are in control of the situation. If you find yourself a hungry seller and let him know you will pay $500.00 below the asking price all cash, the car is undoubtedly yours. Just because you pay cash and get a fine deal doesn’t negate your obligation to yourself to thoroughly inspect the car and the seller. You will need to do a test drive, check out the title document and a Carfax or similar history of maintenance report. If you are happy with all terms, then tell the seller you will meet him at your bank at an agreed on day and time. He is to bring a Bill of Sale and the original title to sign over to you. You will present him with a Cashier’s Check or Certified Check drawn on the bank where you will be meeting. When speaking about the Certified Check instead of outright cash, we are assuming the car is priced at way more than say $500.00. Cash is fine for smallish amounts. You just don’t want to hand over $10,000 in cash to a stranger for a strange vehicle as you have no recourse should something go wrong. If the seller has a problem with accepting a Certified Check, find out why. On the other hand, don’t ask why, just tell him that’s the way you conduct business. When meeting your seller at the bank, stand in a place where you know the security cameras will record the transaction. At a dealership when paying cash, you will need to know the final total amount of the sale so you can bring back a Certified Check in the full amount. Many car dealers will accept your personal check and have the cashier give your bank a call to be sure the funds are in your account and then have the bank put a hold on the funds until the check clears. Read over your sales agreement very carefully as the dealer will often add extras that are not verbalized during the transaction discussions. Should you be financing your purchase, you want everything in place before you even start looking for a car. Talk to the bank that is your lender and let them know exactly the vehicle type you are in the market for. They will inform you about the average loan amount on that car letting you know how much of a down payment you will need. Also inform your lender that you are purchasing from a private party and find out their rules and regulations governing such a purchase. Many times, they will deal directly with the seller after you plunk down your down payment with them. If you are purchasing from a dealer, you still need your financing in place before you shop for a car. This way you are certain of the type of car you can afford and precisely what your rate of interest on the loan will be. Sales people and finance managers at the car dealers always try to increase your interest rate when you finance through them because they earn commission when they sell for over their backer’s stated interest. Trends In The Car Market
Wednesday, October 26th, 2011| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
Like the fashion world, the automotive market is also driven by trends and the times. Consumer tastes change with time and what was considered a hip car twenty years ago may not be the case anymore today. Here is a look at some of the car trends we’ve seen throughout the decades. Allen Hyundai orange county hyundai offers a great selection of vehicles in The OC. American muscle cars are still as super cool today as they were 50 years ago. The Ford Mustang was a big hit when it was first released and became an instant classic. Cars like the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Impala and Chevy Camaro were all about freedom and rebelling against mainstream society. In the nineties import cars started to become very popular; all the young kids could be seen lowering their Acura Integra’s and Legend’s and fixing them up with clear lights, rims and booming stereo systems. Magazines like Import Tuner glamorized the import lifestyle. The lifestyle would later be glamorized by Hollywood films like “The Fast And The Furious”. In the early 2000’s for some reason SUV’s started becoming popular. It could have been the fact that they were sporty or perhaps less pretentious than the typical yuppie Benz or BMW but for some reason SUV’s became known as the ultimate status symbols. However, once SUV’s started to become a hit with suburban moms, SUV’s became less of “cool”. However, many SUV’s are still featured prominently in music videos. Many of today’s most popular stars are driving Audi and Mercedes Benz which is typically considered a brand geared towards a more mature demographics. However, with the likes of Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and LC Conrad all driving Mercedes at one point another; the brand is once again captivating the hearts of a younger generation. On a more practical side, it also appears as if hybrids are also in fashion. I would assume that most people would pick the Prius more as a practical choice then a fashionable one. However, the fact is that these cars are simply everywhere these days; they are definitely a common staple on the California road ways. Who knows, maybe in 25 years we will have flying cars. It looks like cars that can communicate with one another are close to becoming a reality in the near future. Life And Death Car Emergencies
Sunday, August 28th, 2011| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
A lot of disasters can happen behind the wheel; the worst thing that can happen is to have the gas pedal stuck while on the road; we’ve all heard the disastrous stories on the news. Most people think that they will know what to do in such a situation; however it’s common to panic during a critical moment and simply forget. Let’s go over what to do in case of an emergency. What could be more horrible then getting your accelerator stuck and unable to control the speed of your car or slow down. First you will need to shift the transmission gear into a Neutral position and then press on the brakes firmly; do not pump on the brakes. Try to pull over to the side or road if at all possible. If you are unable to change the transmission turn the engine off but this should be only used as a last resort because it can lock the steering wheel. If it locks up it will be really difficult to steer and move the steering wheel. Do not remove the key from the ignition since this can cause the key to lock up. If your car has a push start button you will need to hold the button down; don’t tap on it or push it in or out but hold it for an extended amount of time. Hydroplaning is another danger to avoid if at all possible. The best way to avoid this is to make sure your change your tires on a regular basis so that they maintain proper tread; driving on bald tired can be deadly. In order to avoid hydroplaning to begin with, you will want to make sure that your tires are in good shape. If the steering wheel feels loose and it’s wet; chances are that you could be hydroplaning. You will want to take your foot off the gas pedal so that the car slows down. Avoid pressing the brakes or using the steering wheel if possible. We’ve all had a flat tire but flat tires are the most dangerous if they happen while you are driving at a high speed such as on the freeway. You do not want to press on the brakes abruptly. Pull over to the side and stay indoors at all times if possible. You run the risk of getting run over if you exit your vehicle.
