LucasFilms has released a total of seven films in the series of Star Wars movies. Many toys and other types of merchandise has been produced based on these films. Some of the more popular toys released so far are the LEGO Star Wars sets. The LEGO Group has created sets based on the most popular scenes from each of the films. We will dive into each of these films LEGO systems here. The Phantom Menace was released in 1999, many years after the original movies were released. The LEGO Group has released quite a few sets based on this movie which include the Mos Espa Podrace, the now famous scene from the Phantom Menace. The Mos Espa Podrace includes quite a few Star Wars LEGO mini figures which is even more reason why this LEGO set is prized by collectors. Attack of the Clones, not to be confused with the Clone Wars, was the second film released as a follow up to the original Star Wars series. The Attack of the Clones LEGO Sets include some of the more desirable Star Wars LEGO mini figures, like the Tusken Raiders, which are unique to this series, Count Dooku, Yoda, and the ever popular and hard to find Jango Fett. The Revenge of the Sith was the third movie released after the original movies. Episode III was released in 2005. The Revenge of the Sith series of LEGO sets includes one of the more imaginative LEGO sets in the Darth Vader Transformation. This set includes an Anakin Walker mini figure and a Darth Vader mini figure and depicts Anakin’s transformation to Darth Vader. A New Hope is actually the first film released by LucasFilms in it’s now legendary Star Wars series. Now called Episode IV, a New Hope was released in 1977. More than twenty years later, LucasFilms and the LEGO Group teamed up to recreate the Star Wars series in LEGO sets. These LEGO systems are now the LEGO Group’s best selling building block toys. Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back was the second film released for the Star Wars series of films. The Episode V LEGO Sets include the original of the Slave I star ships, 7144 and 6209. The 6209 version of the two is the best as it is a much larger sized build and much more true the films version of the star ship. The Return of the Jedi is the final installment in the original series of movies. Return of the Jedi LEGO sets include some really cool Star Wars LEGO Mini figures like the mini figures from the Jabba the Hutt series of sets, Jabba the Hutt himself, a disguised Lando, and a half naked Princess Leia. The newest film released thus far for the Star Wars series is the Clone Wars. Released in 2008, this film is based in a very popular animated series. The LEGO Group certainly outdid themselves with the LEGO sets based on this film. They are very true to the movie as are the Star Wars LEGO Mini figures that are included. These minifigs have a very distinct animated look about them and have proven to be very popular among Star Wars LEGO Collectors. About the Author:

When I first found my grandmother’s Wizard of Oz collectibles while going through the attic, I was surprised. Wizard of Oz dolls did not seem like her style. She has always been an extremely practical woman, you see, and collectible figurines do not fit in with that image of her. Her house doesn’t look like a typical old lady’s house. There are no collectible porcelain figurines, no blown glass, no sentimental pictures of her grandchildren when they were small. Everything is pretty plain. She has an almost Spartan aesthetic. Her Wizard of Oz collectibles, by contrast, have a much different look to them. They were an early set of Wizard of Oz collectible dolls made soon after the movie, and they had an adorable, almost cherubic appearance. Even the flying witch and the monkeys looked absolutely adorable. They were very cute ” not at all what I would expect her to possess. My grandmother was always an interesting woman, and when I asked her a few questions about the Wizard of Oz collectibles she had an interesting reply. Apparently, when she was a kid the Wizard of Oz with one of her favorite movies. It actually inspired her towards being a writer. Although she had never realized her dreams of writing movies for Hollywood, the collectible figurines still remain precious for her. After all, she had composed several stories and scripts which are still kept safe and sound as treasured mementos of her earlier days. Seeing those Wizard of Oz collectibles really enhanced my opinion of my grandmother. I had always seen her as sort of a two-dimensional figure. It is easy to take someone who you have known since your earliest childhood for granted. Seeing another hidden dimension of her personality has been an eye-opening and fascinating experience. Now I know that my grandmother, although plainspoken for the most part, could also be sentimental and even emotional at times. Holding on to Wizard of Oz dolls from her childhood simply because they have inspired her at one point was something that had seemed out of character for her, but in retrospect I’m sure that I know her better for finding them. Last Christmas, as a matter of fact, I got her a new Wizard of Oz collectible doll. It was from a completely different series, and I wanted to see how she would react. Although I could tell that she didn’t like it as much as her original Wizard of Oz collectibles, she still seem to really appreciate the effort I went through. She gave me a big hug and smiled at me. |
