Need some low cost business ideas? As they say, it takes money to make money. But if you are looking for ways to start your own business and work for yourself, investment capital might be tough to come by. No problem! There are many businesses you can start with little or no capital and start making money almost immediately, even without a fancy college degree or much, if any, special training.

Personal shoppers are a big deal now. Families just can’t find the time to get it all done. Between working, caring for kids, and doing errands like grocery shopping, they would pay dearly for some reliable help. Just make sure you have a decent car to get around and you could make some serious money.

Anyone with some basic office skills can provide services to local small business owners who can’t always afford full time staff to do certain things. Typing letters, answering emails, or even paying bills are time consuming and really need a professional touch - which you can provide!

Turn a hobby into a job by becoming a pet sitter. Who can resist taking a cuddly little puppy out for a walk? Pet owners can’t seem to find enough reliable help when it comes to their dogs and cats - and birds, snakes, pigs, and everything else you can imagine. Pet sitters can make some great money, and there are no start up costs at all!

Learn to make candles! This is so easy, and supplies are very cheap. You don’t need much space but you do a place to let them cool off without the fear of little children or pets getting burned. If you have any kind of artistic ability, you can make some good money!

For anyone who can cook or bake, this can turn into a real money maker. You don’t need to have a full service catering company, but whether you can provide a wide range of foods or one special dessert you have already been known for, you can sell to local coffee shops or restaurants, and sell them to neighbors for showers or poker parties.

Make gift baskets. Find a specialty that interests you and focus on that. For instance baskets that contain beauty products, pet treats, baby shower goodies - whatever. You can even buy books on how to decorate them!

Like taking pictures? Take some and sell them to your local paper. Major events, accidents, or even something cute - papers love these freelance photos!

A Pen As A Corporate Gift

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Pens are small, fairly inexpensive but in respect to using them for gifts they don’t get thrown away till they have been fully used, giving them a life of 1 or 2 months depending on usage. Because of this versatility they are a perfect gift.

Nowadays, black ballpoint pens are the most common ink color; many pen producers would attest to that. For advertising exposure purposes, the black ballpoint pen has the best dollar for dollar advertising and market exposure value. They keep you front of mind with your clients every day when you add your branding or unique company features the pen.

Amongst sales people and office workers, black ballpoint pens are the most preferred. Blue is next in line in popularity. If you are a party-hire company or childrens wear business you may consider some more interesting colors such as pink or orange but you may lose out a little on usability. After all you are giving a very practical gift so it may be better to stick with blue of black ink.

When it comes to the exterior body of a pen imagination is the only limit. And as long as the pen is still usable practically as a pen, then you would still achieve your exposure goals.

On the pen’s body, you should first focus on company information you want to add, before considering the design of the body next. If you do not do this, you may end up with a wonderful physical design that has no space for the information you want to add. This would defeat your advertising purpose completely.

Quality looking pens will be preferred by more people than cheap looking ones, so do not go too cheap when it comes to the body of the pen. Don’t use cheap pen interiors either. We all have had the experience of trying to write with a pen that does not work and throwing it away in frustration. If a person gets this experience from your pens, they can associate the bad experience easily with your company. They will end with a bad impression of your company.

Good suppliers of corporate gifts should allow you to buy pens in numbers you need, in addition to the design concept of the pen body & its quality aspects we discussed.

Monday, November 16th, 2009
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

The time has come to work on that Christmas List. What are some of this year’s TOP PICKS for that special guy on your list? We have scoured the web and have come up with the following gems that we think you should consider. Without further adieu, let’s get started:

A) Our TOP PICK # 1. Many guys are very adventuresome and love things that involve the wilderness. Do you worry about him when he is away? If he is into outdoor activities like kayaking, hunting, fishing, camping, or hiking, we have just the item for you. When you consider the amount of “peace of mind” that it will give you, it’s just as much a gift for you as it is for him. We didn’t even know that a little device like this existed before we started our research, but the more we think about it, it’s nothing short of fantastic!!!! FANTASTIC WE SAY!!!

This little gift idea is a Satellite Messenger device. Small at only 8oz, it will give him the ability to track his travels and adventures. Even more than that, it will enable him to keep you and his other loved ones up to date on his status, and current location. You know, this little device might even save his life one day! For example, what happens if he gets lost in the woods? He can scream and yell, but if nobody hears him, it’s worthless. Armed with this little device he needs only to send you the info you need, and before you know it, help is on the way. What sort of peace of mind is that worth? We’re not the only people who are raving about this great device. It won the Backpacker Magazine 2008 Editor’s Choice Award. Enough said!!! For more details and ordering information (it’s very affordable), check out our blog.

B) OUR TOP PICK # 2 is… Do you happen to know a guy who loves cars? He seems to eat, sleep, and drink cars? If so, we have found the perfect gift for him. Let’s provide an example. Suppose he drools at the mere thought of a “1966 Mustang Shelby GT”? Well, unless you are loaded with cash, it’s probably a gift item out of your price range. That doesn’t mean you can’t get him the next best thing. How about a die-cast model of his favorite car?

If he happens to like this particular version of the Mustang, you could get him the “1966 Mustang Shelby GT 350 H Die-cast Car Model 1/18 “Hertz” White with Gold Stripes Die Cast Car, courtesy of our featured supplier. If he’s not into Mustang’s, but likes Chevy’s, or Toyota’s or Hummers, well, they have other makes and models available as well. In fact, they seem to have it all. They have been the direct distributor of die cast model cars online since 2001, so they know their stuff. They are dedicated to providing their customers with not only quality merchandise, but wholesale pricing, quality service, and an overall positive online shopping experience. Please visit our blog for more information on how you can contact them.

We hope that you like this selection of gift items for that “special guy” on your Christmas list. We also have TOP PICKS for gift items for that special lady, or a boy, or a girl, but space does not permit us to go into further details in this article. Have Some Say About Your Bridal Shower

Saturday, October 17th, 2009
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

A Bridal Shower is about having time with friends and family before she moves from her single life to her married life. Apart from the hen party (bachelorette party) this is the last time she mingles with them as a single woman. Usually that is more appreciated by the friends than the Bride.

Sometimes showers have a sense of being unplanned, where anything could happen and people just go along with whatever does. Showers have an unlikely mix of guests, friends as well as family making the Bride feel uncomfortable on occasion when friends offer raunchy gifts for her honeymoon while the Bride’s grandmother and elderly great aunt look on. Without the Bride indicating a few ground rules for the organiser to be guided by things may not run as smoothly as she might like.

Usually it is the Maid of Honor who organizes it and it is perfectly understandable that the two would sit down together and talk about a few shower details. After all the Bride still wants to have fun but if there is family and children attending there are limits. Also the practical facts are that more and more people need a little help starting out their lives together nowadays, with the way the economy is. Not having to buy a kettle, toaster, plate set etc is a big help. The Bride should talk about all this with the Maid of Honor and she should pass it on to those invited.

For example the Bride may request that gifts be family friendly and most will be quite happy to comply with that. It may not just be Grandma that is invited to the shower that is a worry; some guests may even be bringing children to the event. And let’s face it, how many women really wear or use those naughty outrageous items friends buy them. Half the time they are not even the right size!

Have the Maid of Honor remind those coming to the shower what gifts are on the wedding register or if the couple do not have one, the Bride can write a few things down for the Maid of Honor to pass on. The etiquette to do this is acceptable at the shower though it is not so for the wedding itself. Also decide whether it is a shower for children or not. You need to consider that some guests want to have fun and relax which they are less able to do if children are there.

A Few Likable Colognes for Men

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I’ve always been a great fan of cologne for me. I’m instantly drawn to a guy with a great cologne, and I can remember the first time I met my current boyfriend. It was the cologne he was wearing (Safari by Ralph Lauren) that drew my attention and he still likes to tease my about this.

I’m here to help you figure out which cologne might be the best option if you’re in search of a gift for your significant other. While I could go on for days with a list that he’d enjoy, I’m going to limit it to just a short few here. I think any one of these should do the trick.

One very safe bet, in my opinion, is a fragrance by Hugo Boss and it’s called Dark Blue. It’s quite a few years old at this point, as it came out earlier this decade. Still, the fragrance is fresh and modern without a doubt. This won’t be your typical heavy cologne that could offend some people.

The bottle is a darker color. Can you guess which one that might be? If there’s any cologne that I had to compare the smell of it to, I’d say that it resembles Polo Sport with a little more spice.

After this, I’m going to recommend Blue Jeans, a Versace cologne. This one is a bit less neutral in the sense that the scent is a little stronger. I’d probably call it sweet. I’ve seen both guys and girls go crazy for this one.

I’d really only stick with this one if you have a taste for that kind of thing. Otherwise, there’s a chance that you may find it too overbearing.

Lastly, I’d look into Safari, the very cologne that won me over with my current boyfriend. This is an extremely masculine cologne that has a bit of a musky scent, but it’s one that I’ve always loved. It’s a classic at this point, as it’s probably been around for at least 15 or 20 years, and it still remains popular today.

The list of potential candidates for your boyfriend’s next cologne is naturally much bigger than this, though I do feel that this is an adequate starting point. Any one of these should be more than fine, and from here it comes down to personal preferences.

Screen Printing

Thursday, October 15th, 2009
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

Screen printing is a technique in which the ink is directly applied to the surface that is to be printed and this surface is called substrate. The image that is to be printed is transferred photographically to the screen in such a way that the areas not be printed is blocked and the fabric is used as a stencil. A roller moves across the screen stencil, pumping ink over the threads of the woven net in the open areas.

Silk screening or serigraphy also involves screen printing. In this, the stencil method of the print making imposes a design on the screen of silk or any other fine mesh and the empty areas are covered with an impermeable substance while the ink is put on the printing surface through the mesh. The silk printing was the traditional method but now it has been replaced with the polyester for screen painting.

Screen painting is the technique developed by the Chinese almost 2000 years back and the screen was made of human hair stretched across a wooden frame. The Japanese developed it further by using the woven silk as mesh and lacquers as stencils. Europe adopted this technique much later as it involved silk which was not available in the Europe.

The rotary machine was patented by Michael Vasilantone in 1960 in the United States to print logos and team information on the bowling garments. It was licensed by different manufacturers to produce screen- prints on the garments like t-shirts, and hats. The screen printing on the garments has become so popular that it accounts for almost half of the screen printing activity going on in the country.

The screen printing business flourished and became a profitable industry. It was adopted by the artists to express and they used it to duplicate their works and they have been using it before 1900s. Currently, it is popular both in the commercial printing and fine arts industry. It is commonly used print images on the T-shirts, CDs, DVDs, hats, glass, ceramics, polyethylene, paper, polypropylene, wood and metals.

Currently, graphic screen printing is used in creation of mass or large batch production graphics such as posters or display stands. The screen printing is more suitable for printing on non-porous surfaces like ceramics and metals, curved surfaces like bottles and cups and also for short print runs.

The Corporate have well utilized this option and have started giving their employees and clients corporate gifts that are screen printed with different ideas and also corporate logos. This is a good way in which the corporate can increase their presence. The Corporate gifts are usually given once or twice to the employees. The screen printed corporate gifts are like t-shirts made in different sizes and styles keeping in mind the different employees. The corporate gifts can also be in form of mugs, beer and wine glasses, and many corporate give their best employees fully paid vacations.

Using Wedding Photos for a Collage

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

Creating a collage of wedding photos makes a beautiful gift for anyone, or it could even be something done for your own pleasure. There are many ways you could go about making it and here are just a couple.

You could make the collage using your wedding pictures for your parents or grandparents as a personal and special gift. Ask guests to send copies of photos they took to you and use photos you are not including in frames or an album that your wedding photographer took. Think about the photos the person you are gifting to would like, there is no point in giving them a collage with pictures of your work friends when they do not know these people. For people like grandparents use family pictures, for parents maybe family and close friends.

Another nice idea if it is going to be an anniversary gift to your partner, is to collect pictures of you together that show your relationship developing. Old pictures of the first date, your first holiday together, wedding pictures, your first child and so on. When you gift it your partner will think it wonderful I promise, and you will both spend some precious moments together remembering the special times the photos depict.

Another idea that makes the collage great fun is to turn it into a jigsaw puzzle. Once you have collected your chosen photos from the wedding like cutting the cake, the first dance, family pictures, you can then use an online service that allows you to upload them and they turn them into a collage puzzle. This is a great gift for anyone, children or adults. These companies do them in several sizes and skill levels and the cost is based accordingly ranging from $80 to $250.

This is a crafting project you could do yourself but there are companies that can do a professional job for you. They have collages they have made for others available for you to view so you can see what your options are and then all you do is send them the digital photos you want them to use. If you have specific requests you let them know, otherwise they will come up with something for you.

This wedding photo collage means photos are not getting brown and faded in boxes, or rarely looked at in albums, but are enjoyed by whoever you give it to.

The screen printing in the United Sates became popular when the artist Andy Warhol screen printed Marilyn Monroe in year 1962 in the garish colors. In year 1960, the American entrepreneur, inventor and artist Michael Vasiltone developed and patented a rotary multicolor garment screen printing machine. The Screen Printing Process

Saturday, August 29th, 2009
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

Screen printing is one of the initial methods used in printing process. In this process, the ink or any other printing medium is passed through a screen or ‘mesh’ that has been fixed on a frame, and a stencil has been applied to it. The image that needs to be imprinted is determined from the stencil openings. For the different colors, different screens are prepared and the process is repeated.

During the reign of Song dynasty in China, the screen printing appeared in the recognizable form. Japan and other Asian countries started using this printing method and advanced it further by using this in conjunction with paints and block printing. Asia introduced screen painting to the Western Europe in the late 1700s but screen painting was not used widely in the Europe due to unavailability of silk mesh here and it started gaining wider acceptance when silk mesh on trade with Asia became easily available and also, other mediums that could be used were developed.

The printing on the canvas with the help of the screen-printing also became popular with the artists. Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg and many other artists have made use of screen-printing on the canvas. The commercial as well as the fine arts industry is using this screen printing industry to increase their profits and they use it to make prints on the CD and DVD covers, t-shirts, hats and also on the metals and many more things.

The first industrial screen printing process was patented in 1907 and many years later, John Pilsworth of San Francisco introduced the multi-color printing using the same screen. In this, the different screen areas were blocked for different color inks and a multi-colored image was produced. This technique is popular in printing signs and posters.

Large and small corporate give gifts to their employees and clients in appreciation of their work and also to motivate the employees to perform better. The Corporate gifts are usually screen printed with the company logo and some motivational sentiments. The corporate gifts are given at the time of holidays like Christmas and New Year. There are many different types of corporate gifts like t-shirts, bags, glasses and like. The screen printed t-shirts are also given to the employees during the annual events of the corporate.
