Sure, a lot of people choose to wear a wig to hide hair loss, but lots of people like to wear wigs to fashionably change their hair as easily and as often as they change their clothes. But there are also women who wear wigs as a protective hairstyle while in the process of transitioning their hair from permed to natural. There are also religious reasons why some women wear wigs. In the long run, it doesn’t matter why someone chooses to wear a wig if what they also want is for the wig to truly look like their own hair. In that case, they definitely want to look into real human hair wigs because of how natural they look and feel and how much easier they are to style than synthetic wigs.

Even though human hair wigs are all made with human hair, that is usually where the similarities end. There are many distinctions among human hair that’s used for wig making that effect to the quality of the wig you get and the price you pay.

Virgin vs. Processed

Only wig hair labeled “virgin human hair” has not undergone any processing. Otherwise, you should assume that the hair has been put through the different processes that are common for making human hair wigs. Hair from China, India, and Indonesia make up the majority of hair that’s used to make human hair wigs. As a rule, this hair is stripped of much of its natural pigment before then being dyed to produce different hair colors.

Often it has also had the cuticle of the hair removed to help cut down on tangling. Without the cuticle, however, the hair is weakened, so it then has a synthetic finish applied to strengthen it. Finally, the hair is sometimes permed to achieve the look of different hair textures.

Even given this amount of processing, the hair still offers the natural look and feel of human hair. It can be cut and for the most part styled as you would other human hair. And best of all to consumers, it’s available at an affordable price. Hair that is completely unprocessed, that is ‘virgin hair’, is of course in its natural state, but it also leaves fewer options as far as color and texture.

Remy Hair

When hair is collected and the natural direction of the individual hairs is maintained relative to each other, it’s referred to as ‘remy’ hair. Remy hair is less prone to tangling because the shingle-like cuticles of the hairs are all lying in the same direction and thus don’t get caught up against each other. Remy hair is also noted to be very durable and shiny, so although it is more expensive than hair that’s collected in a random fashion, informed consumers appreciate its value.

Yaki Hair

Hair that’s known as ‘yaki’ hair has undergone a texturizing process that produces various curl patterns that are normally associated with African-American hair. The yaki texturizing can be applied to varying degrees so that the results look like hair that’s been relaxed or like natural curl that can range from waves to tight coils. Women with natural curl to their own hair benefit from the process of yaki texturizing because it allows them the option of wearing human hair wigs that look like their own hair instead of looking obviously like a wig.

European Hair

Within the wig making industry, the term ‘European hair’ (also known as ‘Caucasian hair’) is hair whose donor is of European origin. In general, less processing is required to achieve different hair colors with European hair than it takes with Asian hair. The hair therefore remains closer to its original state. There is much less European hair available on the hair market than Asian hair, so it’s priced at a premium. Nevertheless, the silky feel and durability of European hair is so desirable to many wig wearers that they are willing to pay the much higher price.

Everyone Benefits

The fact that human hair that’s used to make wigs is not all the same is to every wig wearer’s benefit. The varieties of hair make it much easier for each person to find wigs that fit their personal preferences and that more closely resemble their own hair.

Lace front wigs are a popular trend amongst celebrities such as Tyra Banks and Beyonce.

As lace front wigs grow in popularity, more and more women are interested in utilizing them for more hairstyling options and versatility.

4 Ways You Can Avoid the Hair Stylist With a Lace Wig

1. Styling is really costly. A jaunt to the salon suggests a minimum of $55 these days, especially if you want to do the hard stuff. Thinking about a drastic change to your hair? You’re pretty much looking at a minimum of $85. Extras like extensions can push it all even higher.

With top quality lace wigs, however, you have none of those problems. Once you’ve figured out the (basic) learning curve of learning how to wear the wig, you can switch your hair at any moment you desire, with no costs after your initial, one time payment.

2. It’s heavy on your hair. Yeah, we have a ton of hair, and it’s not all theoretically a living entity like, for example, our skin might be, but let’s face it — our hair is pretty delicate. Using the stylist every 3 weeks for a strong treatment isn’t so good for you — even your stylist will tell you this.

Since a great lace wig is made from hair that doesn’t belong to you, you’ve got nothing to be worried over. And it comes already sporting a style (depending on what kind of wig you order), so there’s no terrible chance of you wrecking the hair, since you don’t need to subject it to the same vigorous treatment as your natural hair.

3. It’s rough on our scalps, as well. We frequently forget about our scalp, often since — unless we razor our head — we don’t see it very often. But it’s still there, a proper layer of our skin just as any other, only possessing thousands of tiny follicles.

With a lace wig, your scalp is untouched. You can freely switch among highly different hair styles without worrying about any theoretical issues. And as long as you don’t keep wearing it all the time — which is easy, since you don’t have to sleep in it, anyway — the top of your scalp will always be able to breathe without a single problem.

4. There’s only so much you can change. Despite the radical changes you can accomplish at the hair dresser, there’s only a certain level any of us can accomplish when talking about our hair. Yeah, we can color it, trim it, and change it tremendously — but in the end, it’s still our hair and contains our qualities.

This isn’t the case with lace wigs — there’s truly no ceiling to how flamboyant you can become. Your head can go through the most heavy color and style alterations during the course of a few days, and still have free time left over for another huge change. It was recently in the news that Beyonce owns so many wigs, they are worth over $a million: think about how many fashions she can get through in one week!

Four Great Ways Lace Wigs Are Better Than the Stylist

1. Doing a Styling is truly costly. A trip to the hair salon guarantees a minimum of $40 today, especially if you want to do any kind of complex process. Looking at a heavy change to your style? You’re certainly looking at a minimum of $80. Extras such as extensions will push it all even higher.

With great lace wigs, however, you won’t find none of those concerns. Once you’ve mastered the (shallow) learning curve of understanding how to wear the wig, you can customize your hair anytime you want, with no costly appointments after your first, first-time payment.

Since a good lace wig is fashioned from hair that doesn’t belong to you, you have nothing to worry about. And it comes pre-styled (depending on what kind of wig you get), so there’s no terrible chance of you ruining the wig, as you don’t have to hold it to the same heavy styling as your natural hair.

3. It’s rough on our scalps, too. We sometimes forget about our scalp, especially because — unless we razor our head — we don’t tend to see it much. But it’s there, a complete layer of our skin like any other one, only possessing thousands of delicate hair follicles.

Using a lace wig, your scalp is untouched. You can happily switch among highly different hairstyles without worrying over any theoretical issues. And provided you don’t keep your wig on all the time — which is easy, because you don’t need to sleep in it, regardless — the top layer of your scalp will always be able to breathe without a problem.

4. There’s a limit to what you can alter. Regardless of the serious changes possible at the hair dresser, there’s only so much any of us can do when it comes to our hair. Alright, we can dye it, chop it off, and modify it tremendously — but in the end, it’s still our hair and contains our characteristics.

It’s not like this with lace wigs — there’s just no ceiling to how crazy you can get. Your head can go through the most heavy color and style alterations during the course of a few days, and still have time left over for still another huge transformation. It was recently said that Beyonce possesses so many wigs, they add up to over $one million: consider how many hair styles she can get through in a single day!
