“Going green” is currently all the rage. With advances in technology this is becoming extremely easy. What has been discovered is that new products are more efficient, cost-efficient, and safer than ever. Therefore, this year switching your commercial Christmas display to LEDs is a sound choice.

Today many businesses are converting to LED lighting because it is energy efficient and can save as much as 98% of the cost of lighting incandescent strands. The US Environmental Protection Agency recently stated that 140 LEDs use the same amount of electricity as one 7-watt incandescent light. They are the smallest sources of light available and work by moving electrons through semiconductors.

They are also extremely durable. The lenses are made of epoxy which is almost indestructible. Even if they get dropped, stepped on, or misused they do not break. They also last an incredibly long time, which means that your display will continue to shine for years to come.

LEDs are also cooler than incandescent bulbs. This reduces the likelihood of getting burned or causing a fire which is important when shoppers visit. This also eliminates the possibility circuits could burn out causing power outages at inconvenient times. Due to the fact they can be used anywhere, they are also weather-tested to make certain they can withstand environmental conditions even in the harshest areas.

Ultimately, keeping costs down is the most important concern for many businesses and changing to this type of light may be seen as “not in the budget”. Today that is not a concern with programs like “LED Holiday Light Exchange Programs” that provide free or reduced-fee exchanges for entrepreneurs. The savings become obvious when the first energy bill arrives.

There are many reasons for switching your commercial Christmas display to LEDs. Energy efficiency, safety, longevity, and many other reasons make this a viable alternative. For those who are looking to make a display this year that people cannot help but notice, LED strands are great options.

Learn how easily you can switch your commercial Christmas light display to LEDs and save money on your utility bills. LEDs have a longer lifespan and shine more brightly on commercial holiday displays so you do not have to spend time replacing bulbs during the holiday season.

Using Christmas lights for holidays and special occasions is a worldwide phenomenon. The decorations can be good accessories in any season; from wrapping around trees for winter holidays to wrapping around yard structures for summer parties. So, the color of them and their wire can be important to a person needing the right look. Usually, the wire on these lighting products is green, but it’s possible to step outside of the box and get brown Christmas lights.

Although it may seem like an off color, a brown hue on wire is noted for blending. They are specifically practical for blending decorations outside of the home. Bushes, windows, and porches or decks are great structures for this type of light wire. Decorations with light features are most often wrapped in this color.

This wire most often adorns outside novelty decorations. The decorations have many shapes, including trees, reindeer, stars, and Santa Clause. The some times battery operated structures may move or make sounds and music. A brownish color works best for blending the features with the surrounding outdoors.

Green wire may be unsightly, so a brownish color is used, because it is seemingly invisible to the naked eye. Wreaths may be green, but many of them are wrapped in this color as well. It blends well with wreaths’ dark colors and with shrubbery outside homes. Additionally, most outside holiday lighting features are made with the dark color.

Commercial lighting products, are another holiday design item made with brown wires. It is a simple color that doesn’t seem out of place in public holiday designs. The lightening wires can be seen wrapped around large trees in from churches and hospitals or around stars in front of restaurants. They may also be seen on Santa Clauses in front of schools

Outdoor LED light items can be made with a dark rope wire. A rope wire is a flexible light that can be bent around and shaped into anything a decorator wants. These features can add a lot of interest to a display.

Rope lighting can be made in to many shapes for accent to holiday displays. Some possible shapes are trees, candy canes, and stars. The wire on them has a brownish hue, so they can be saved and used for another season.

Left over rope wire can be used for backyard designs in the summer time. During this type of the year, lighting can be seen wrapped around decks, on fences, or hanging from awnings. They work well for birthday parties and barbeques. Being used only at night, these lighting features make a brownish wire a necessity and accessory. The color will be invisible to the eye and the lights will stand out even more.

Brown Christmas lights are easily over looked, but they are used all over in holiday designs. They are not a substitute for green wires, but simply an alternative. Some people prefer the non traditional, and these lights may have what they’re looking for.

The LED tube light is becoming increasingly mainstream, and is now considered as a better lighting choice than incandescent and fluorescent lights. The biggest advantage that LEDs have is that they don’t use as much energy as the other lights. But there are other benefits too.

These lights aren’t built to work with heat like other lights. It needs an efficient heat sink, and the design and technology makes it far superior in terms of energy savings (60-90%). The lack of heat also makes it last longer, so it has a much bigger lifespan too.

It can outlast other lights by more than 60,000 hours. To make it even more useful, these lights can be used just about everywhere - indoors or outdoors, and in any season or weather. LEDs are often used for sidewalk lighting, and in gardens and driveways and so on.

Also note that there is no breakable glass that can be a danger. The things it does have are quite rigid and resistant to hard impacts or movement. What this means is that they’re unbreakable, and they have efficient heat sinks.

Combined with their efficient heat sinks, it also means these lights can be safely used in places where they come in touch with people. Also, the design is very compact so the lights are small and can easily fit into a small space. One thing to remember is that some LEDs don’t work with dimmers.

While it is still possible to make it work with a dimmer switch, the design for the switch won’t be as simple as with other lights. In a nutshell, these lights are the future and they save energy, last longer and are very sturdy. There’s no good reason not to shift over to an LED tube light, for those who haven’t done so already.

The LED tube light is a technological advance that is more energy saving and is less hurtful to the environment. An shopping LED tube operates cooler and just as bright as the incandescent or fluorescent models.

How To Use Inexpensive Lighting

Lighting is the one, single most critical means of altering the mood of any room. Therefore, it stands to reason that if you enhance the lighting and appearance of your house, its value will also rise. Lighting improves any decor. However, you do not have to use expensive lighting, budget or discount light is just as good in most cases.

There are thousands of kinds of lighting, at least one of which will go well with the type of decor that you have. Lighting is best kept subtle. Up lighting, down lighting and back lighting are fantastic ways of lighting up objects in a room. The days of one pendant lamp hanging from a rose in the centre of the ceiling are long gone so if you do have to have one, at least put a dimmer on it.

Using many lights in place of one powerful light does not have to be more expensive. Typically, the one powerful light was a 100 watt bulb, so you could have four 20 watt wall lights and still save 20% on electricity. Or you could use one 40 watt bulb in a standard floor lamp or table lamp for reading or working and save 60% on your lighting bill.

Besides the savings, a wrought iron floor or table lamp is far more beautiful that a pendant light. How about candelabra? You could make use of candelabra to stunning effect, whether you use candles in them or small light bulbs.

Candles have made a big return too. Many people use candles for supplementary or even back-up lighting and candelabra are one of the hottest latest trends. Interior designers are snapping them up antique shops and painting them bright colours. You can see them in the photos of the houses of many celebrities. A lot of people use candelabra in conjunction with aromatherapy too.

Another aspect of lighting is security. A well-lit house is less likely to be burgled than a dark house. Outside lighting can also play a major role in security precautions. External lighting that is controlled by movement or heating sensors to switch them on are the best means of discouraging burglars.

External lighting is the best deterrent, but it can also be beautiful. Back or up lighting on a water fall, a pond or a beautiful arrangement of plants or bushes is amazing in the dark. Spotlights have a role to play in lighting up garden plants as well.

If you want to give your fish free, organic meat to eat, put a floodlight or even an ultraviolet light at the pond side. If you switch it on for a few hours after dusk, hundreds of flies, moths and mosquitoes will be drawn to it and fall into the water, where your fish will be waiting for them.

You can have a lot of fun with lighting and the possibilities are endless. Both indoor and outdoor lighting can increase the beauty of your home and garden, but they also have practical uses: they enable you to see what you are doing and what other people are doing, which is why they are a good deterrent. Good lighting also makes anyone living alone feel safer.

LED Lighting

Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

LED stands for light emitting diode. LED’s are not new, they are the tiny red or green lights on the front of your stereo that tells you that the power is on. Some set-ups have quite a few of them to show the state of preparation of the equipment. However, there is a new wave of interest in LED lighting by manufacturers. There is talk of LED’s being the future of lighting. In fact, there always has been these rumours about LED’s, but nothing ever appeared to come of it.

This renewed interest in LED lighting started in 2004 when vehicle manufacturers took another look at using LED lights in car headlamps. In 2008, Lexus produced the first ever car, the Lexus 600, with LED headlamps. These cars were exported all over the world except for North America. However, the 600’s headlamps were or are not true LED headlamps, the main beam is produced by filament bulbs.

The first true LED headlamps were fitted to the Audi V10 R8 sports car also in 2008 and the first American car was the Cadillac Esplanade Platinum in 2009. However, there is an inherent problem with high power LED lights, the rear of the diode produces a lot of heat. In fact, a group of high power LED’s produces enough heat to damage itself and melt the headlamp housing.

There are ways around this using heat sinks and cooling fans, but these solutions are not perfect, so technicians and scientists are still looking for ways to solve this problem. On the other hand, the front of the LED lights produces almost no heat at all, so if there is vapour in the headlamp unit and the ambient temperature is below freezing point, then ice crystals will form on the LED’s distorting and dampening the rays of light.

Nevertheless, scientists are confident that these teething problems will be overcome and that LED lights will one day be the most economical type of lights to use. In fact, it is already very economical to use and the LED lights units themselves last a long time. It is just the problem of overheating.

Besides their use in car headlamps, LED lighting units can be seen in flashlights and in other parts of cars. Manufacturers are using LED lights more and more often in brake lights, flashing indicator lights and hazard warning lights, because there is no problem at all with these quite low powered LED lights.

LED lighting used to be either green or red, but now it comes in more colours. White and blue are common. The coloured lights that you see under some cars are another instance of LED lights. They serve the useful purpose of making the car of motorbike more highly visible. All right, that may not be why they were fitted, but nevertheless they increase the vehicles’ visibility.

Many more uses will be found for LED lights over the coming years. You will find incandescent bulbs and even fluorescent tube lighting being phased out in favour of LED lights as the issues are surmounted, because LED lighting is still in its early years.

LEDs are becoming increasingly common in the technology industry for lighting purposes. For example, they are used to provide the backlight in televisions and they are now being used in home lighting fixtures. However, there aren’t many people who understand the benefits of using LED based products, like LED desk lamps. If you are thinking of purchasing such a lamp, you might want to continue reading to find out the benefits of these lamps.

An LED is a light emitting diode. These lights have actually been used for many purposes for a very long time. Many visual installation artists, for example, have been using them in their artworks and most electronics that include a small light on them use LEDs to provide that light. We can now use LEDs for tons of different applications, including desk lamps and even car headlights.

Unlike traditional bulbs, which can get really hot quite quickly, LED lamps do not. LEDs tend to stay cool and do not give off very much heat at all, even when they have been in use for a really long time.

If you find that you have to work with a lamp a lot, you might notice that using a regular bulb creates a lot of heat and might even make you uncomfortable. LEDs are perfect for long work and study sessions, since they will not cause you to start overheating.

LED lamps are also more energy efficient than traditional lamps that use bulbs. This means that they require less electricity to operate, so it is possible to save money on your electric bills by using them.

You can now find LED desk lamps in tons of stores and online. Additionally, they are available in a wide variety of colors and styles, so you should be able to find one that appeals to you, while fitting in with your work space.

Window Shutters For Security And Lighting Options

Monday, August 1st, 2011
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

When you want to add style to your house, one way of doing this and adding security at the same time, is by having window shutters fixed to the exterior of your house. Exterior window shutters add a traditional, Mediterranean look to a property. These days, most houses have glass windows, but before that, people used shutters to regulate the light levels, prevent insects and the cold from entering and for protection.

Exterior window shutters are available in many different shapes and made from a range of materials, although the most common ones are wooden and oblong. The quality of the materials used will influence how long your shutters will last, because, as with all exterior items, they will be exposed to all types of extreme weather conditions.

Plastic, vinyl, metal and wooden shutters are to be had at many home improvement centres. Although they look good, shutters also have practical uses. They can prevent glaring noon sunlight from over heating your home as well as offering security.

Cedar wood is a good choice, as are most other hard woods. Hardwoods are more resistant to rain and sunlight and, so long as they are painted, varnished or oiled regularly - at least once a year - then your shutters will give you ten or more years of good service.

Most varieties of hardwood are very resistant to attack from insects too. This is because a lot of them contain oils that are repugnant or even poisonous to insects. However, if you are uncertain about the quality of the timber that your shutters are crafted from, you can paint them.

Painting, staining or oiling is far easier if you carry it out before you hang the shutters. If you want to use oil to protect your new wooden shutters, first stain them to the colour that you want them to be with a stain without varnish. When you have accomplished the desired shade and it has dried, pour oil linseed oil onto a cloth and rub it into the wood in circular motions. The more coats you give it the better, but it may not accept more that two or three coats.

If you choose to varnish your shutters, either stain them to the colour you require as above and then seal them with clear yacht varnish or use a stained yacht varnish without the stain. Whichever way you go, thin the first coat of varnish down until it is almost watery. Paint it on and leave to dry. Rub it down with medium coarse sandpaper and then coat it again with pure varnish. Wait for it to dry and sand it down again, but with fine sandpaper. Add at least one more coat, but it is a case of the more the better.

If you decide to paint them, apply a primer or some thinned down undercoat. Wait for it to dry and sand it lightly with fine sandpaper. Next, apply a coat of undercoat that is suitable for the finishing colour. For example, grey is good for black, brown and even olive or red. Sand it down when it is dry with fine paper. Finally, gloss your shutters with the final colour.

In conclusion, hang the shutters on appropriate hinges using brass screws. Next time, you paint or varnish your shutters paint over the screw heads, although brass never looks out of place anyway.
