Sports Arbitrage Betting is also known by many other names, including Sure Bets and Arb Trading. Regardless of the name, it refers to the same thing: making use of different odds offered by different bookmakers on the same sporting event to make a profit for yourself. Bookmaker X:$7272. 80 on 1. 1 wins $8000,$1000 on 8 wins $8000 Bookmaker Y:$6666. 80 on 1. 2 wins $8000,$1600 on 5 wins $8000 Studying the above calculations you can undoubtedly immediately see that betting on both possible results at Bookmaker A will incur a cost of $4136.40 and you will only make $4000, with a net cost to you of $36.40. Placing a bet on both outcomes at bookmaker B will cost you $4133.40 and you are still only going to win $4000, with a net cost of $33.40 to you. So its very clear that both bookmaker A and bookmaker B have done their homework - they’re going to return a nice net profit no matter who wins. The good news is, however, that you can still make a profit. If you placed a bet on the underdog at bookmaker A, it will cost you only $500 to make $4000. If you then go on and place a bid on the favourite team at Bookmaker B, that bid will cost you $3333.40. Total cost of both bids = $3833. 40. Guaranteed win = $4000. Guaranteed profit = $4000 - $3833.40 = $166.60. Sports arbitrage betting is really just as easy as that. In real life, however, it means comparing the odds of a large number of bookmakers to locate the most favourable ones available, then calculating if those odds will create a net profit for you or not. If they do it’s simply a matter of placing your bets and waiting for the match to finish before claiming your profit. Apart from that you must also watch out that your betting costs don;t eat up all your profits. Too many withdrawals might well do just that.
