MLM - If Its No Good, How Come Some Make Millions - Here Is Why!

We have all tried it - been infected with other peoples enthusiasm and decided to join an MLM or Network Marketing business. Plenty of money changed hands (out of mine and into others) and I embarked on a crusade of bombarding my friends and family.

Some time after, we might find that we have exhausted the contents of our address books and though some had joined, most had not and eventually the whole thing just dwindled to a distant memory. Meanwhile we get on with our real job and move on.

I put the whole sorry episode down to experience but incorrectly took from it that MLM businesses do not work. After some time I repaired the damage to my address book and all got back to normal again.

Does this sound familiar to you? I know that I am not the only one to go through this experience. It seems that over 96% of all MLM newbies have a very similar experience.

Then, I became involved in a standard non MLM business and after some time of trying this - I had some success and though not metioric, I did learn some things. The most valuable lesson was, my perspective had changed. When I got a second opportunity to try MLM again, this time I found myself willing and able to think outside of the box and it is this that made the difference.

I studied MLM and those that had been successful and those that had not and the results that I found were quite remarkable, to me at least.

I asked myself the question about the type of approach with most MLM businesses when compared with a standard one.

I came to the conclusion that an experienced business person tends to approach business from a different angle than those with no experience. An experienced hand will look at marketing, staffing, premises etc and they will pay for the services of Solicitors or Accountants and book keepers. They see if they themselves need further training and these are the elements that they invest their money on to maximise their potential. Of all of these areas, on of the most important is that of Marketing - where are they going to get new customers from and what constitutes the best customers.

Next I looked at MLM newbies - these people are usually ex or existing employees who have no knowledge or understanding about how a business should be run and so they invest in the wrong things. Some buy tons of product believing that their business is about selling as much of it as possible.

This brings me on to the next point that I would like to make - concentrating on the product. I found by studying how successful MLM business people worked, that this is the number one mistake made by MLM newbies. They get seduced into how good the vitamin supplement or brass cleaner is and they fail to realise where their key earnings potential is.

This was now getting exciting - I started to feel that I was onto something after all of this studying and that I was about to lift the lid on what the key components were to running a successful MLM business.

So our MLM newbie has been working hard converting all of his family and friends to customers - some have joined him and the others hide under the bed whenever he knocks on the door. Everyone in the whole system up and downline have done the same - what do you do now and where do you go next? .

Therefore, urgent action is needed - and this is usually where the purchasing of leads is the next step. This increases the money out and does give some activity but after some hard work trying to get people in, a typical positive response rate is around 2%. I truth, these new people are no different than those in the Family and Friends that were initially recruited and several months down the line, it is realised that the money spent on the marketing effort has not been replaced and you realize that this is not the way to become financially successful.

When I studied how the top 1% work, I realised that they do it much differently. They invest into their business by obtaining the right information. Most of that data costs money because it is valuable and it has usually been produced by the millionaires who were in this 1%.

I therefore invested in myself and spent less than I would have done on lists to obtain the information services. I therefore invested in elements which were necessary for my success - at least in my opinion. I downloaded books, articles and watched online videos and I realized that I had hit the golden seam - this was definitely it.

After considerable reading and watching, I realised that the way to approach MLM was to recruit other good MLM people who were facing the dilemma “how can I get really good people into my downline”. These people were who I wanted in my own downline. But they already had their own MLM opportunity that they were promoting so how was I going to do this?

Thankfully, this aspect was covered in the material that I had obtained and it only cost me a tiny amount (less than $50). It was clear to me, that I had to provide leadership and direction for my new team if I was going to operate in this way. I realised that if I were to offer new agents a clear and defined play as to how they could run their business and be successful, they would want to join me and I would become the ‘hunted’ instead of the ‘hunter’.

In a nutshell that is it - I was going to build a business where people sought me out and followed me not because of the MLM opportunity that I was working on at any one time, but because of who I was and how I would train them to do the same. As I had taken my lessons from one of the most successful MLM business people of all time, I was in good company and I was clear on how to follow in his footsteps.

I have now started to build a strong MLM team with my new MLM opportunity. The product or service itself is of secondary concern to me - but I now get contacts regularly and the frequency is slowly increasing. I am simply not too bothered if someone decides not to join me - if they are not 100% committed to becoming rich doing this, then I do not want them to join me anyway. So these people are vetted by me before I allow them into my team.

In my opinion, if one shows their downline true leadership and direction, then they will follow you and many others will be attracted to you because of this. If I come across someone who does not like my approach, then that is not a problem - they need me more than I need them so they can go and work with someone they like. I only want to work with people who are determined to succeed and to work smart in way that will benefit us both.

Thank you for reading my article and I hope that it has helped you to understand the secret recipe for success in an MLM business.

MLM Recruiting Techniques, Old School or New School - Which Are You Using?

If you have even been in a Multi Level Marketing business you are probably already familiar with the old school marketing techniques. You know the ones, make a list of all your family and friends, put up signs on all the telephone poles, flyers on bulletin boards, drop cards, door hangers, hotel meetings, cold calling, and the infamous 3 foot rule.

Were you happy with the results? I’ll bet that you weren’t. Unfortunately, these techniques no longer work for most people and are part of the reason for the high drop out rate within the Network Marketing industry.

My company indicated that everyone was a potential prospect. While not everyone might be directly interested in the products we sold, everyone was interested in earning some extra money, right? So just make a presentation to everyone you met and some would say yes. I was told that it was a numbers game, the more you people you told about your opportunity, the more people you would get to sign up.

But that’s not what happened. People soon would avoid conversation at all cost, not answer their phones nor return messages, and would go out of their way to avoid getting within conversation distance. In other words, I had inadvertently become a member of the NFL (No Friends Left) club.

So my upline responded by recommending that I buy opportunity leads and call them. If you call enough folks, a certain number will join. It is just a matter of calling more leads if you want to sponsor more people, the story went.

Instead of landing a large number of new recruits, I faces more rejection, hung up phones and hostile responses from this supposedly opportunity seeking list. Most of them had no interest whatsoever in anything to do with Network Marketing.

Now I was getting deeper and deeper into debt purchasing leads and had zero to show for it. That’s right, zero, zilch, nada!

I finally threw in the towel and got out of the industry for a while, defeated and licking my wounds. That is until I ran across a much easier and better method of sponsoring. The new method used the Internet and soon had people coming to me as opposed to me having to go hunting for them.

Using attraction marketing techniques, I soon learned the secrets of offering desirable and useful information to a targeted audience, build a relationship with them and get them to come to me asking to join my program.

So, if the old school MLM methods are not working for you, I strongly suggest that you take a look at the new school attraction marketing methods and don’t be held back by obsolete marketing methods, or at least marketing methods that aren’t working for you.

MLM Training Scoop

Multi level marketing training comes in various flavors. The concept of this training is to teach you how to get your recruiting message across to prospect. Also to understand that you have to find a method that is comfortable for you as well as your prospects.

Another key consideration is that when you are going to give a presentation you need to allot enough time to present the “whole story.” This is another key point. Make sure that when you are going to do a presentation that the prospect knows in advance how much time you will spend together. You don’t want to have this whole great presentation ready and then have your prospect get up and say.. “Sorry but I’ve got to go now.” Not only is that a disservice to you, but the prospect got cheated because they didn’t get to see the whole picture. Since we live in a microwave society we’re conditioned to make snap decisions usually without enough information. To avoid this trap make sure you have prepared your prospect for the exact amount of time you will need together and understand the format you will present with.

The three primary presentation formats are:

There is belly to belly.. vanilla.

MLM recruiting via telephone, chocolate.

And there is MLM Internet marketing, pistachio.

Find the format that fits your personality and find the one that fits your new team member’s. If you were taking your kid into the ice cream store and asked what was their favorite flavor, and he or she said chocolate and you said: “No you’re going to have pistachio,” how do you think your kid would react?

Same thing in network marketing and MLM training. If you try to force feed your new sign-up a particular system that doesn’t fit their personality, then they are just not going to do it for any consistent period of time.

In conclusion.. The only way to do network or multi level marketing is the way YOU like to do it!

Regardless, you got to… “Do it.” For more MLM training tips go to: http://MyMlmDream.Com

MLM Marketing Strategies Are Totally Different

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

MLM Marketing advertising is so different than conventional advertising and that’s why so many get it wrong.

I see it happen all the time. People who are used to the conventional ways of marketing in the conventional business model deliver the absolute wrong message to the multi level marketing crowd.

How do you avoid this mistake made by most? Find a resource like http://MyMLMDream.com

Here are some easy tips. First instead of selling, you have to take the roll of problem solver. The network marketing industry is built primarily by people looking for answers to their financial problem. It’s no different then a conventional business owner looking for financial freedom, and to have the better things in life for their family. But a much different message in MLM.

Once you understand what the product really is, in network marketing then that’s the first step to getting it right. The product is freedom. Many MLM Marketing representatives just miss that part. They fall into the trap thinking that the company’s new wonder product is just going to fly out the door. And that people will be so excited about this latest or greatest new blah, blah blah, that they will have people jumping up and down whipping out their check book.

Wrong message being delivered here. What network marketers need to understand is that the latest and greatest new, vitamin, skincare product or service are merely the possible conduits to an end, which is usually financial freedom.
