It’s a Saturday morning and you’re sitting there waiting for your coffee machine to stop its various gurgles and noises so you can have that all important early morning cup of coffee. Idly, you glance around your kitchen and notice a fleck of paint on the corner of the door. It had been there for years but you never really took any notice of it until now. Your gaze continues to wander and your eye gets caught by a patch of mildew seeping in under the sink, then you see the ugly brown colour that your ceiling has become right above where the cooker is. The paint is faintly off colour, and the lone wall-papered wall is beginning to look outdated and faded. You take a fortifying sip of your now-ready coffee and decide that a little bit of kitchen decorating is called for. How do you go about it though? And how soon can you get into it? Now that you’ve finally noticed all the signs of decay that you had been quite successfully ignoring up until that moment, you can’t wait to get started on your little kitchen decorating project. That however is where the crunch comes. Just how modest do you want to keep your kitchen decorating project? Can you get away with slapping a fresh coat of paint on everything or will you need to go to the trouble of removing the wallpaper off the wall, and finding out where that mildew stain might be headed. It all depends on you and your budget, but if you have the time, energy and money, you’d probably be better off, in the long run. to get rid of all your kitchen decorating problems at once. That would include stripping off the wallpaper, replacing any carpeting or rugs, and maybe even sanding down your wooden floors if you have those. However, if you’re going to do a complete job of kitchen decorating, you’ll also need that all important final coat of paint to smarten up your kitchen. You may also want to think about replacing those old lace curtains as they’re also probably looking distinctly old by now. So, go ahead and splash out on your kitchen decorating project and replace the curtains and while you’re about it, you might want to think of investing in a new stack of tea towels as well. It doesn’t hurt to go the whole hog when you can. And when you’re finally finished, you will be able to sit back and enjoy your new kitchen and remember that weekend morning that started it all off. You’ll have no regrets whatsoever, since your kitchen decorating project has provided you with a far better kitchen than you had ever hoped for. A feeling of contentment rushes through you as you bring your new coffee mug to your lips. Life just doesn’t get any better than when you’re enjoying the fruits of your efforts and labour. South-western Home Decor
Tuesday, April 5th, 2011| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
So what exactly is southwestern home decor and how can you introduce it into your own home? Well, to begin with southwestern home decor reflects the southwest and all its most famous traits. Southwestern home decor involves colourful throw rugs, gorgeous wall hangings, and if you look hard enough, you will even unearth some great kitchen accessories too. If you’re considering bringing southwestern home decor into your residence, first of all, you need to determine whether it will fit in with your existing decor or whether it will clash horribly. Almost all southwestern home decor involves bright, eye-catching colours and stunning designs and motifs. So, if your existing furniture would clash with any of these lovely pieces, you can do one of two things. First up, you could always just throw out every single piece of unwanted furniture that you have and replace them with gorgeous pieces of southwestern home decor. Or you could just buy one or two pieces of the southwestern home decor range and match them carefully with your existing pieces. Personally speaking, I would just love to replace everything I already have since there’s some wear and tear, but in reality that’s just not possible. For one thing it would just be way over my budget, and for another I would rather not have to listen to a lecture from my mother about waste. I’ve discovered that you can get away from from your friends but not from your mother! Besides, I’m also a little relieved that I didn’t give into my first impulse and redecorate all in the southwestern home decor style. Sure, it does look really nice, but sometimes I also like the peace and quiet that some of my other pieces of furniture bring about in me. Therefore, I have now come up with the perfect solution and have instead resorted to purchasing one-off pieces that attract my attention and dotting my home with those instead. And I have to admit that its made quite a difference to the appearance of my entire home. Expensive pieces of the more traditional furniture now sit quite comfortably with the more flamboyant and stunning designs of my southwestern home decor. I’ve even got hold of a great throw rug for my bathroom floor and a gorgeous set of bathing towels. My kitchen has a new set of southwestern motifs, and my foyer has the most wonderful lampshade and statue in full view. Although all of this sounds over the top, I’ve found that this is the easiest way to bring the glories of southwestern home decor into my life, without going the whole hog and replacing my whole house with southwestern decor and motifs. Moreover, you only want to bring a splash of southwestern decor to your home, not the whole sheebang. Oh, and did I forget to tell you about the gorgeous tapestry I bought the other day? It’s just right. If you are looking for stylish ideas on Stylish Home Decor, then you really must go along to our website for more free ideas on Interior Design Ideas and more. |

Decor for Teen Rooms
Friday, April 1st, 2011| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
Teen rooms are the bane of mothers everywhere. It’s not even like when they were younger. In those days, if their rooms were messy, you could shout at them and get them to tidy it up, and, if that didn’t work, you could go in and do it. However, when it comes to teens and their rooms you’re dealing with something completely different. True, you could go and ask them to tidy up their rooms. And yes, you could shout at them a little if you wanted to, and go and clean the room yourself. However, that’s when all hell breaks loose. Teen rooms are private places and not to be entered into lightly. Let Heaven help the person who tries to clean up the mess on the carpet. It was there for a good reason and you just had absolutely no right whatsoever to touch it. At least, that will be what most teens will say and, you being the patient, loving mother that you are, will just roll your eyes skywards and explain that the pizza and grubby, old shirt thing just don’t work well together and that you were just rescuing them from impending plague. And in their turn, your teens will roll their eyes and protest loudly, that you should not exaggerate, it wasn’t about to develop legs and walk off on its own, and if it was then wouldn’t that make a fantastic science project. So, you keep cleaning and they keep putting things right back. And you end up right back at square one. Naturally, one way you could deal with this dog’s dinner is to redecorate it. Teen rooms might be sanctums for them, but even they would like it if you gave their rooms a fantastic makeover. That doesn’t mean that the room will be any tidier after they have moved back in, but at least you’ll have been able to seen the inside of the room long enough to satisfy you for the next couple of years. That is unless you’re thinking of redecorating their rooms every year. But now you come to your next problem. Since teens are famously different when it comes to their rooms. You might find that your teen rooms are decorated quite differently from what you expected and what you would have done first of all. This is where a comprise should be struck, if your teen wants black for his room, then say you want another colour too that will offset the black. Be prepared to give in a little on your ideas no matter how ridiculous their ideas are to you. After all, they’re only a teen for a while and later on they will look back with horror on what bad taste they had had. So, it is your duty as a parent to give them these fleeting moments in their lives so that they can look back on them with mock horror and disallow their own children from doing the same to their own teen rooms. If you are searching for more teen rooms decor ideas, then you really really must visit our website for more free ideas on Stylish Home Decor and more. |

Ideas for Painting Walls
Friday, April 1st, 2011| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
So here you are, you’ve bought your new house! Its a bit of a mess because the previous owner was in a hurry to sell and had been in the middle of renovating. You don’t really mind that though, since it gives you the perfect chance to do your house up exactly the way you want it to be done. However, now you need to decide where everything should go and which colours would suit which rooms, but you don’t have any wall painting ideas. So, you eagerly sort out your new keys and wander through your new home. The minute you step in through a door ideas assail you. That huge vase you bought last year ago would look great over there, and you’re pretty sure that your existing sofa set will fit in that other room. And you know that an antique mirror table would look stunning in the hallway. The only thing you really get stuck on though are wall painting ideas. You certainly don’t want to simply dab on a few coats of bland paint and have done with it. What you want is something special! Something that you can look on with pride every time you see it and, of course, you want to be able to keep looking at it with pleasure for quite some time to come as well, so it shouldn’t be too severe. But where do you get decent wall painting ideas from, and how do you go about getting the wall painting actually done? There are a few ways that you could go about this, the easiest of which being if you have an artistic flair, so that you could get your wall painting ideas out of your head, so to speak and paint the walls as you like. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t very artistic and we are hesitant to pick up a brush or roller and apply the first coat of paint without supervision. In this scenario then, you will need some help. You could start off by hiring a professional decorator to help you decide what would look good or you could sit down and watch some DIY programs on the TV, where they show some pretty good ideas on what to do when decorating a house and will even give you some great wall painting ideas. If neither of these is a viable option for you though, you might just settle for going down to your local hardware store with a few fabric swatches and colour sheets of your most prominent pieces of furniture and seek their help on stylish wall decorating ideas. You may come up with a mixed bag of wall painting ideas with this last suggestion, but I found that it was the one that worked best for me and now I’m very proud of my slightly eclectic house. It reflects who I am just perfectly. If you are looking for more ideas on Stylish Home Decor, then you must go along to our website for more free ideas on Interior Design Ideas and more. |

Decorating Ideas for the Interior
Sunday, March 6th, 2011| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
The cold of winter has got you by your short tails and you’re pfaffing around trying to decide what to do with yourself. You’re snowbound and the only thing that you can think of doing is sitting in front of the fire, drinking hot chocolate and staring broodingly out of the window. The only thing with that is that you’ve already been doing just that for a while now and you’ve have had quite enough of fires, hot chocolate and brooding. Now you’re ready to do something different. So, you turn to the only solace you have and switch on the TV. You’re instantly riveted to your seat as you come across one of those many shows about how you can do up your home. You find yourself inundated with decorating ideas: interior decor and exterior decor, you name it and they’ll have it on the TV. So, you finally find yourself entranced by a program that you would have dismissed earlier and jump out of your seat to get a pen and notebook to note down all those great ideas. In no time at all, you’ve run out of pages in your notebook and have to leave your warm armchair to go fetch another one. Before you get back to your comfy chair, you’ve made a quick detour around the house and have spotted many of the things that you’ve spent years trying not to see - the cracks in the bedroom walls, the patch of mildew in the bathroom, the paint chipping off many of the doors. The list is very long and could easily fill several notepads. Therefore, you sit down, and alongside your notes on various decorating ideas on interior design and general redecorating, you studiously take down all the little things that need fixing, renewing or refitting. The list covers more than even your second notebook can hold but you decide to stop there, because it’s giving you writer’s cramp, besides you already have all the relevant facts to hand, so now you set about sorting them out into directions that you can easily carry out. No easy task that, when your decorating ideas, interior designs and room-by-room list of flaws is all jumbled up into one horrible pile. You then turn to the tried and true, age-old method of sitting on the floor and surrounding yourself with your notes in an attempt at finding some order. When you eventually reach that sublime state of order, you lay back with a tired but satisfied countenance. The knowledge that you’ll now have enough decorating ideas and interior design plans and less spare time on your hands during those long hard months of winter, sends a gush of contentment running right through you. After all, there’s nothing like a job well done and the knowledge that next spring, your home will look nothing like its former shabby self. It’s probably safe to assume that by that point, you would have decided whether you wanted to continue doing interior design jobs or not. If you want, you also have the option of attending an interior design college or taking some interior design courses to further your interior design interests. Landscape Lighting
Thursday, February 18th, 2010| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
While having a fantastic looking garden is important you will need to consider ways of allowing the beauty of your garden to shine through in various types of weather conditions. Some people also like to have the option of having their garden illuminated in the night. For these many people, looking at various landscape lighting options will allow you the opportunity of having your garden looking just the way you want it, no matter what the natural lighting conditions are. In order to provide the right landscape lighting conditions, you will have the choice of a wide variety of lighting fittings. These fixtures can be in the form of lamps, lanterns, spotlights, halogen lights and even solar-powered lights. The cost of these lighting fixtures varies for every style of light. If you are thinking of using landscape lighting you will need to decide where to place the lighting in order to achieve the best lighting effects. You may also want to consider which lights will shower your garden with a bright lighting. You can look in gardening magazines to get an idea of the many different ways that these landscape lighting fittings can be used. While it may possible to get ideas for installing landscape lighting in your garden from landscape and gardening magazines, there is another way as well. For this other method, you should look at your garden in the daytime and in the night time. In the morning you will need to look what spots in your garden could be enhanced by the use of landscape lighting. Then, when night falls, you look out at your garden again and see what areas would benefit from the use of lighting. Then, the morning after this nocturnal inspection, you should go out into the garden and mark out roughly where you think there is a requirement for lighting. Once you have looked at this area properly, try imagining what sort of lights will be useful. You can then go to the garden store to look for these lights, once you have chosen the kind of landscape lighting. After you have bought your perfect lights and you have looked at the instructions on setting them up you will need to commence setting up the landscape lighting in a manner that will make the most out of your garden. You ought to try subtle and strong lighting in order to decide on the best for your garden; a dimmer can help with these tests. After you have finished your trials and have installed your final lighting, you will see what a difference having the right landscape lighting can make to your garden. From now on, when night falls, you will see the beauty of your garden in a different light. Stylish Home Decorating in Black and White
Sunday, January 17th, 2010| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
Whenever people start to think about living room decorating ideas and making changes to their home, whether it be one or two rooms or even the complete house, the first thing that usually springs to mind is ‘what colours shall I use’. Usually, people choose colours that they are fond of or those which match pieces of their existing furniture. When looking for living room decorating ideas, one idea which is perhaps too often overlooked is decorating with the two basic colours (or shades, to be completely accurate) ” black and white. Black and white, when used in decorating shows style and creates drama. Top decorators say that every room in the house could benefit by using a slash of black. Black is a colour which anchors and stabilizes a room. Adding sophistication, black is definitely a colour that demands attention. Living room decorating ideas for a home using black may include accessories such as light fixtures, trim or furniture. Black serves to bring definition to the focal points in a room. Black is just one of the colours that stands out or makes a statement, but it is definitely one of the most outspoken! Decorating with the shades of black and white in your living room decorating ideas, lends a clean, fresh, elegant air to the atmosphere of the room. This combination can be used in any room in a home making it a sophisticated area. Black and white are frequently used in contemporary home decorating and often used to highlight other colours in the French Country style. It may be hard to conceptualize but there are many ideas for decorating a home using combinations of only these two basic shades. The floor is a great area to start when you’re having living room decorating ideas. Black and white vinyl tiles laid alternately make a beautiful checkered pattern and gives a clean and elegant appearance. Black marble used on the floor, accented by wide white baseboards is another beautiful idea for decorating a room. Laying white ceramic tiles with a black border or simply painting the floor black or white and using pattern stencils of the opposite colour for decoration is also really stunning. These all are fantastic ideas for re-vamping a home. Can you think of anything more perfect than white walls in the Mediterranean style? Painting the walls white or even an off-white, say smoke-white or apple-whitemakes an ideal background for decorations such as paintings framed in black. Great living room decorating ideas! Elegant black window surrounds or black shutters against a clean, crisp white wall would certainly create an aura of sophistication. Maybe a glass-topped table with a black iron trim and black chairs? These are great ideas for decorating a residence using only black and white. Imagine a bedroom decorated using only black and white - that would be lovely stylish home decor too. A black or white iron bed-stead, covered with a striped black and white blanket or eiderdown. The pillow cases could be either all black or all white and you could add throw cushions in the opposite colour. A chunky leather black or white armchair in the corner would definitely accent the living room decorating ideas. Then you could have the white walls with a sophisticated piece of artwork, framed in black, hanging on it. That would surely add to the contemporary feel of your living room decorating ideas. Black furniture against the crisp white walls would look really neat and tidy and you could spruce it all up with accessories like pewter or silver candlesticks, jugs or vases. However, if you think that the living room decorating ideas need a bit more colour to complete the look, maybe a throw or a cushion in a bold colour like red or gold for the chair in the corner of the room would be enough to accent the room. There are many ways to decorate a home, however, discovering the one that suits you and those who live with you is really very important. It’s nice to do something extreme and unusual, but please remember that you must be able to live with what you have created for quite sometime. If you are searching for modern ideas on Stylish Home Decor, then you really must go along to our website for more free ideas on Interior Design Ideas and more. |

Fabric Shower Curtains
Sunday, December 20th, 2009| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
There was a time when fabric shower curtains went the way of the dinosaur and glass shower doors were all the rage. Like most fads, however, common sense took charge and the fashions of yesteryear have come back around full circle. You’ll now find that fabric shower curtains are all the rage once again and are readily available for purchase at most stylish home decor stores. However, don’t throw out your old glass doors just yet either. The convenience and sophisticated look of the glass doors seem to be firmly established in some quarters. True blue die-hards of the glass doors will swear by these and will even sometimes be ready to lay down their reputations for them. You’ll find, when discussing fabric shower curtains, that their owners are complacent and will smile when questioned about their preferences. Naturally, they’ll defend their fabric shower curtains but they also admit to seeing the benefits of glass shower doors as well. No dripping from the bottom of the curtain, no constantly damp curtain folds that need to be separated out each morning in order to discourage mould. The biggest convenience of all, is the easy cleaning granted by glass shower doors. However, as the proponents of fabric shower curtains will also say to you, glass doors have their downsides as well, the biggest of which being that if you allow the cleaning of the doors to go for even one week, dark stains will begin to form along the sides where they’re attached to the wall and some of these seem to have great determination. And without a good regular wipe-down of the glass shower doors, your otherwise nice clean bathroom will begin to look grubby. The reason though why fabric shower curtains are an all time favourite of many people in the know, is for one reason and one reason only. This is also what leads these people to have a smug smile on their faces even after they’ve just spent the last half hour sponging their bathroom. Fabric shower curtains are disposable. Yes, that’s the one massive why fabric shower curtains are still a firm favourite with a lot of people. Have you ever tried replacing your glass doors on a regular basis? It just won’t happen and its doubtful if it will ever happen for a few years, unless that is you take a hammer to it. So, now you understand the reason behind that mysterious smile and why fabric shower curtains never really went out of style. Convenience, more convenience and still more convenience. So if you’re thinking of swapping from your glass shower doors to the more convenient, disposable fabric shower curtains don’t be put off. Once you remove those doors, your life is bound to become easier, and if it’s not, just swap one pair of fabric shower curtains for another. If nothing else it’ll make you feel more cheerful! If you are looking for more info on stylish fabric shower curtains , then you really must go along to our website for more free ideas on Stylish Home Decor and more. |

Wedding Decorating Ideas
Sunday, December 20th, 2009| Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles |
Yes! Yes, yes, and yes a thousand times more. That was the reply you gave two weeks ago when your boyfriend took you out to dinner and proposed. There was no hesitation in your mind then and there really isn’t any now. The only thing that you’re hung up on though is the actual details of the wedding. Your boyfriend, now your fiance of course, is very laid back and casual about it and said that anything you want was OK with him. He was certain that you would do a splendid job, just tell him if you wanted anything. That’s all well and good, and usually you would have jumped at the opportunity, in fact you did jump at the chance. But now you’re getting confused about what to do for your wedding decorating ideas. The motifs are all blending as one into your brain and you still don’t know where to hold the reception. Of course, you could hold the reception in an up market hotel with the works, everything catered for and all the niggily little details taken care of, but that seemed so impersonal, and you really want your wedding to be one that you, and everyone else, will remember for the rest of your life. So what should you do now? Well, first and foremost, just take a deep breath and relax. Working yourself up into a frenzy won’t do you any good. Next call your bridesmaids and all willing and able people whom you trust together and have a council of war. This is where you will decide on the details and get a fresh perspective and new ideas on your planning, and where most of all, you can have some fun with your wedding decorating ideas. You’ll be just amazed at how many great ideas a group of people can get if they’re working on something like wedding decorating ideas with wedding cards being only the least of it. So you start off with an idea, maybe to have the all the cards handmade so that they become extra special to you as time goes by. Someone else has the great idea of getting a bunch of those little disposable cameras so that interested people would be able to take photographs, and you’d end up with a great many more candid pictures than you otherwise would have. Yet another person suggests a great basis theme design. Your wedding decorating ideas are now coming fast and furious as one person after another chimes in offering you all the help you need to get your wedding plans off to a flying start. However, it is your mother who comes has the best wedding decorating ideas of all and you’d think that that was the least of her worries! Maybe you’d like to get married and then have the reception at their house. They could put up a large tent to cater for all the guests, and the house could be decorating to suit the occasion. And you say, ‘Yes’, again because there’s nothing you want more than to get married at home.
