There are many factors that need to be included in deciding which type of bars you like to hang out in. You have the traditional neighborhood bar, the hot spot bar that is the coolest place, and the theme type bars.

Lets review some options. There are many names they could be called such as taverns, lounges, saloons, beer gardens, drinking holes, clubs, nightclubs, pubs, and bars. Each has a slightly different appeal.

First lets talk about the hot spots. These are where people go to flaunt their sexy. Often the latest and greatest place that everyone goes to be cool. It’s usually a dance club with loud music. They are sexy, exciting, and stimulates your senses in every possible way. Every since of smell, sight, taste and lust are in overdrive. These places are usually packed so it’s easy to meet people but not so easy to have a lengthy conversation. A lot of body language is prevalent in these hot spots. Lots of alcohol mixed with some raging hormones and it’s a high like no other.

Dancing the night away, drinking it up, and checking out the other players are all part of the reason these bars have been around as long as they have. There will always be new youth who are looking to get lucky and dance the buzz for the night.

Next let’s talk about themed bars. These kind of bars cater to crowds who feel more comfortable socializing in an environment that fits a certain image or style that coincides with who they believe themselves to be.

An example of a themed bar would be a county bars. This is where people go to dress up in their cowboy gear. You’ll find a lot of cowboy hats, belts, jeans, boots, and fancy cowboy shits. There usually drinking beers from long necked bottles, or drinking whiskey, or tequila shots. You’ll hear a different kind of lingo in these cowboy bars; words like He Haw, Yaa Hoo, or the common greeting Howdy Partner. These crowds enjoy county music and dance routines that involve line dancing and which everyone dances the same steps in sync or they may square dance.

These cowboy bars appeal to just about any age group and can be a lot of fun. Cowboy bars have gained in popularity ever since the popular movie Urban Cowboy which also gave rise to the popularity of the mechanical riding bull. These bars can be found now in just about every major city and they are also popular in the west and southwest areas. As long as there are horses and cowboys these bars will thrive strong.

Some of the newest themed bars would include sports bars. Sports bars have been around since the invention of the flat screen television. You’ll find sports bars with wall to wall flat screens playing a variety of games. You really are not normally able to hear the games to well because often there are like 10 playing at the same time. This all probably started with the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas. The Stardust was the first legalized sports betting place in the world. It was amazing back then to see the place wall to wall with flat screens playing different sports. Back then this was unheard of. Anyone else had to place sports bet through a bookie back then.

Sport bars have food, usually fried and lots of draft beer. The waitresses are dressed usually with a referee outfit on, why I do not know, but they do. Every night, anytime of the year, there is a game on of some kind. Fights on HBO are a big draw for some of these outlet bars. The mother of all corporate sports bars are the ESPN franchises. These types of bars have not been around very long, but has a huge following based on everyone’s need to see their team on TV and drink. Plus it gives them a place to wear a sports jersey of their favorite team. This is a new trend in the bar business and will never go away unless they outlaw sports and beer or lower the price of tickets to go see it at a real stadium.

Last but not least we have your typical neighborhood bars, pubs, and taverns. These are usually frequented by nearby neighbors and locals who live down the street. The kind of place your dad and his dad may have stopped by on their way home from work. This is the kind of bar that you probably enjoyed your first drink in. Your typical blue collar watering hole. It’s the kind of bar where, if you’ll excuses the expression, “everyone knows your name.” The kind of bar that the famous show Cheers was based off of.

Most were usually a family owned bar that had been in the family for years. Many were Irish, German and other ethnic groups who immigrated here generations ago. The food was not the best but the popcorn and nuts would make the beer go down. The decor was old, it had not been painted in my lifetime, smelled like old smoke and beer and the bathrooms were not to sanitary.

As run down and swanky as these places can be, I have to say, there is something special about them. The people drink and talk about things that matters in your neighborhood. You never need any theme outfit or sports jersey to fit in and you don’t have to try to impress anyone to have a good time. It’s comfortable and real. The moments feel real and if you have frequented these kind of bars growing up it will always have a piece of your heart.
