All Federal Government projects, programs, services and activities that provide assistance and benefits to citizens are cataloged in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. All financial and non-financial assistance programs implemented through departments and establishments for the US Federal government are recorded in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. In 1984, Public Law 98-169 authorized the transfer of responsibilities of the Federal Program Information Act from the Office of Management and Budget to the General Services Administration. The transfer took place in July 1984. These responsibilities include the dissemination of Federal domestic assistance program information through the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, pursuant to the Federal Program Information Act, Public Law 95-220, as amended by Public Law 98-169. Responsibility for the database of Federal assistance lies with the General Services Administration. The Office of Management and Budget interfaces with the range of Federal agencies on behalf of the GSA delivering the required oversight to the program data related to domestic assistance. The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance is the basic reference manual providing information on all Federal domestic activities. Its most critical function is allowing users to identify programs of particular interest. The CFDA also is a tremendous resource for basic information on Federal assistance programs. Additionally, the CFDA endeavors to improve communications and enhance coordination between State and Local entities and the Federal government. The Catalog lets grant seekers access all domestic programs managed by Federal agencies and departments in a single resource. All information is cross referenced by Functional Index, subject, applicant, deadline(s) for program application submission, and Authorization Index. All of this information is invaluable as research tools that can make it easier to identify specific areas of program interest more efficiently. Since its inception the GSA has produced a printed edition of the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. Legislation dating back to 1977 required free dissemination of the CFDA to designated recipients. In 2003 the GSA distributed almost 10,000 copies of the Catalog. New federal legislation provides discretion to the General Services Administration on how to maintain and distribute the CFDA. In keeping with the GSA’s Electronic-Government initiatives, the Government Paperwork Elimination Act the GSA now disseminates the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance electronically through the CFDA Website on the World Wide Web. As a result the General Services Administration no longer prints or distributes free copies of the Catalog. Michael has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. I want to take a few minutes and discuss the one issue that almost nobody confronts with any degree of honesty - the fact that you really don’t like your job. In fact, like the vast majority of people around the world, you know full well that you loathe your job, and the irritation of constantly being under the thumb of an oppressive supervisor. What would you say if I were to assure you that there is an easy way for you to leave all of that behind and become your own boss? It’s not as difficult or fanciful as it sounds - all that you need to do to make it happen is to learn how to buy and sell internet websites. Within a short period of time you can begin to earn a good living. Of course, I’m fully aware that you’re having some serious doubts about the whole idea, and wondering how on Earth anyone can really make money with this business model. Well, rest assured that it is more than just a pipe dream! The internet has grown to encompass more and more of our everyday lives, and website realtors are a reality whose time has come. Best of all, you need but a fraction of the startup costs of a brick and mortar business - just enough to purchase your initial website. So you are asking yourself how exactly do I get started in this and start making the money that I deserve to be making? For starters there is the basic need of buying a website in which you can flip and make money off of the finished product. Now there are two ways upon which you will be able to obtain a website that you will be able to flip and make it ready to resell to another person. The first is to build a site of your own. This where you will take a site and build it from scratch. You are in charge of everything in the design of the website, and in the end all you had to pay was a small fee in order to host your site. The other way to acquire your site will be to go and buy your next domain. This will depending on the type of site will cost you a little more than you would pay for a site that you build yourself. OK now you are in the saddle as you have decided as to what your niche will be and you have found a site that is all about dancing poodles, you have shown interest with the site owner that you want to buy the site. Wait though before you go and just drop your money on this site you will need to know somethings about this little spot of internet heaven that the site is taking up. You will need to know what is it’s SEO potential and it’s page rank on sites as Google and Yahoo. If the site is a dud then you will not want to buy a site that has not received and probably will not receive any real traffic. The whole purpose of this site is to have a site that will sow to future buyers that it has earning potential. You will need to ask the site owner for some documentation that shows how much traffic the site has seen in the past. If this information is not able to be obtained then you will want to just do a keyword search for the site on Google. See where it comes up on the site as far as page rank is concerned. If the person does give you documentation as to the traffic make sure that it is legitimate info and not just what they want you to see in order to buy the site. Now you have bought the site and you now own it outright. Now comes the time to design the site in a way that will make it pleasing to a potential buyer. Now I know you are sitting there and saying that you have no knowledge when it comes to programming and site design. That’s ok you don’t need to remember all the code in the world to have a good looking site. All you need is a little imagination and the desire to take your ideas and apply them to your site. There are several ways that you can design a great looking website and not have to be web savvy in order to make it happen. Now we have acquired a name, designed a site now comes for the cherry on the sundae finding a host that you can host your site on. This is the easiest step out there as there are several upon several hosting companies out there that offer hosting plans that fit every need and every budget. Everything from free hosting, to moderately priced hosting. In my personal opinion I would go with a hosting company that offers you a good deal on hosting with the option to have several sites hosted at once, after all this is your new found career. If you are going to do this then you will need and want to do it the right way otherwise you will wind up failing and end up with that dead end job that you hate or even one that is worse in the long run. Early Exits” - Exit Strategies for Entrepreneurs and Angel Investors (But Maybe Not Venture Capitalists)

The economy has changed. Venture capital has changed. Financing and exit strategies for entrepreneurs have changed dramatically. Exit opportunities have changed dramatically in the past few years. Companies are getting sold early than ever before. Tech companies are often sold only one or two years from start up. Exits are the least understood part of investing and entrepreneurship. Very little has been written about exits - the emphasis is usually on starting, financing and growing technology companies. “Early Exits” is the first book about selling companies specifically written for entrepreneurs and angel investors. Earlier books were written for business owners who wanted to retire or for venture capital fund managers, who usually exited through big NASDAQ IPOs. Everything is changing - the venture capital industry is shrinking at an alarming rate - but angel investing is booming. Today, it’s most likely a company will be sold without ever having an investment from a venture capitalist. The reported median price of private companies that are sold is about $25 million. But this only includes the transactions where price is disclosed. Most often, the price is not disclosed for the smaller transactions. The median price for private M&A transactions is probably under $15 million. Today, growth by acquisition is the best way for big companies to grow. Many large companies are spending more on M&A than R&D. Big companies know they are not good at starting businesses or growing businesses from zero to $20 or 30 million in value. Large companies are much better at growing businesses from $ 20 million to $200 million in value. This has created an environment where companies are being sold earlier than ever before. These trends have created a golden era for entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs are creating companies and selling them for tens, or even hundreds, of millions of dollars just a few years from start up. “Early Exits” is about exit strategies that every entrepreneur and angel investor should be utilizing right from start up to maximize the chances of an early, profitable sale of their companies. Every company needs a clear exit strategy - right from founding. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Good exit strategies are often only a few sentences long. The important thing is to have all of the shareholders aligned on the exit strategy. Reading “Early Exits” will help help entrepreneurs and angel investors have more successful, more frequent and more profitable exits. About the Author:

If you’re a business owner who is looking to increase their visibility while also increasing revenues then you should consider starting an entrepreneur blog. These low maintenance internet sites are a great way to generate buzz about your business without increasing your advertising costs. An entrepreneur blog can be defined as a website with regular entries of commentary on any type of subject such as description of events, graphics, video, or current news. The more entertaining the commentary on your site than the more visitors you’ll attract. The trick is to make the content relevant not only to your business but to the reader as well. Staying on top of current trends that tie in to your business is a major component of a successful blog. In today’s economy, everyone is concerned about rising costs and saving money. So, for example, if you owned a contracting business than starting a blog on the benefits of do-it-yourself projects that cut costs off a homeowner’s utility bills would be an ideal choice. By having a topic that is featured in the media you’ll help drive traffic to your site, which in turn will drive traffic to your business. A real estate broker may want to consider a site that contains entries on the best foreclosure deals and mortgage rates in their area. Topics such as these are discussed on a regular basis in the papers and on television making them fresh in peoples mind. By providing fair and sound information on tough subjects such as home foreclosure will help earn your site a good reputation. Really the possibilities are endless so long as you remember the golden rule in maintaining an entrepreneur log. Make sure it’s relevant to your business and the reader. As your entrepreneur blog grows more and more popular you’ll see a direct increase in the number of contacts from prospective clients. By highlighting the features of your business that are connected to the topics on your blog you can increase your direct sales. However, if you’re blog is popular enough that you receive thousands of visitors a day than you can consider a whole new revenue stream generated by your entrepreneur blog. Once your blog has reached these levels of popularity you now have an outlet that other business would be very interested in utilizing. Your blog can now generate advertising revenue for your business based on the rate and number of advertisements your run. Cutting edge content is a key to most successful blogs with a perfect example being the celebrity gossip blogs that have become so popular. These sites have fueled the rise of multi-million dollar enterprises based on the opinions of a relative unknown. Perez Hilton, the famous celebrity gossip columnist, went from a relative unknown to the creator of one of the most popular blogs on the internet today. As the internet continues to become the main source of how people connect and interact, the use of entrepreneur blogs to increase a company’s visibility will also increase. By creating a blog with cutting edge content you can not only promote your business, but open up a new revenue stream as well. About the Author:

All Federal Government projects, programs, services and activities that provide assistance and benefits to citizens are cataloged in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. All financial and non-financial assistance programs implemented through departments and establishments for the US Federal government are recorded in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. In 1984 the Office of Management and Budget transferred responsibility for Federal domestic assistance program information to the General Services Administration. This transfer was mandated by the Federal Program Information Act and included requirements for distribution of the CFDA. The General Services Administration now maintains the Federal assistance information database from which program information is obtained. The Office of Management and Budget serves as an intermediary agent between the Federal agencies and GSA, thus providing oversight to the necessary collection of Federal domestic assistance program data. As the basic reference source of Federal programs, the primary purpose of the Catalog is to assist users in identifying programs that meet specific objectives of the potential applicant, and to obtain general information on Federal assistance programs. In addition, the intent of the Catalog is to improve coordination and communication between the Federal government and State and local governments. The CFDA lets grant seekers access all domestic programs managed by Federal agencies and departments in a single resource. All information is cross referenced by Functional Index, Subject Index, Applicant Index, Deadlines Index, and Authorization Index. All of this information is invaluable as research tools that can make it easier to identify specific areas of program interest more efficiently. Since 1977 the GSA has published printed editions of the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. Legislation required free dissemination of the CFDA to specific recipients. In 2003 the General Services Administration distributed close to 10,000 copies of the Catalog. New rulings now gives the GSA discretion in what form to produce and disseminate the CFDA. The General Services Administration is endeavoring to move to a more paper free environment and toward that end now maintains and distributes the CFDA through the CFDA Website. The General Services Administration no longer prints and distributes free copies of the Catalog. About the Author:
