After all the preparations you had done to make the wedding day a perfect day, there should be something that your guest can treasure and hold on to remember that one special day when you say I do and promise to be together with your spouse in front of the people you love. It’s a promise that you make to each other will all your guests as witness to that promise. You can give out personality wedding favors and unique wedding favors as a way of saying thank you for being a witness on that special day.

There is an abundance of wedding souvenir and favors that you can choose from. Many wedding suppliers know the importance of favors and through the years, it had become a reputable product and business for many. Possibly one of the reasons on why it’s a booming business is because most brides don’t have the time to do the souvenirs themselves. As the years progress more and more favors came to popularity but the one that always been best sellers are personality wedding favors because they make such unique wedding favors.

One of the reasons on why personality wedding favors makes and equates to unique wedding favors is because it puts a whole lot of personality to your wedding favors. One way to achieve this is through personalizing your wedding favors. Engraving the couples name would definitely make it more personal. You can also have your name printed or be placed on the souvenir. You can make a request to the supplier and most would even offer printing or engraving of your name for free. The couples name definitely results to unique wedding favors and considered as personality wedding favors.

Another reason why personality wedding favors are considered as unique wedding favors is because it gives your guests a preview of your personality as a couple. Think of it as a test that for both you and your husband. If you were able to find a wedding favor that has a little bit of your personality then kudos to you as a couple because there is a bigger chance that the marriage will survive longer than others who can’t even agree on what personality wedding favors or unique wedding favors to give out.

Third reason why personality wedding favors are considered as unique wedding favors is because it is not common. You usually receive traditional wedding favors as souvenirs. Quite frankly, although traditional and it has its own charm, it could also be quite boring at times. The last thing you want to happen is for your guest to just keep the souvenir in their attic and once they get to clean the attic, they won’t remember whose wedding it’s from. Fortunately that will not happen with personality wedding favors especially since it is personalized and have your names on it.

You can go online for ideas on what personality wedding favor is the best to give. Just remember, make sure that both of you agree on what favor to give as this will make the personality wedding favors uniquely yours. It’s one test that both of you should pass with flying colors.

Your sister, niece, friend, or another special woman in your life is getting married and you want to throw her a shower, but are unsure what should be done. I would like to talk with you about a few things that will really help you in your planning. Throwing a bridal shower is a great way to express your love and friendship to the woman who is getting married; not to mention that this is a stressful time in a bride’s life, with all the planning and details, and she really needs a day to stop, relax, and have fun celebrating her upcoming wedding.

The first thing that you need to do is to talk with your bride to be about her wedding plans; what are her colors, what’s her theme, what foods does she love, and other like questions that will help you get a better idea of what will make this shower really special to the bride. It is SO important to put a lot of time and attention into your planning of the shower. No bride wants to have a shower that doesn’t represent who she is; generic showers are a big no no. Talk with her Mother; get childhood pictures and stories of her as a little girl. Really get to know your soon to be bride and give her the shower she deserves.

Be organized. There will be a ton of details that you will have to manage. Everything from the venue to the decorations, the food to the games, the invites to the bridal shower favors. Every detail is important and needs to be taken care of. Get yourself a planner, there are even great shower planners that you can buy from wedding shops and craft stores. Make sure you pick a date and time, stick with it, and send out the invites with plenty of time for people to RSVP to the shower.

Plan plenty of games and things to do during the shower; this is especially helpful if the guests don’t all know each other. You can find a lot of great game ideas online; these icebreakers will get all your guests in a good mood. Have on hand plenty of small gifts for the winners.

Don’t forget the wedding shower favors. A good hostess always has something for her guests to go home with. It doesn’t have to be anything major or expensive, it is just a token of thanks for coming; this is especially important for occasions when gifts are expected, such as this one. It is a great idea to have the favor symbolize the bride. Is she a coffee fanatic? Give out coffee mugs in the wedding colors. Maybe she loves her cat, you could give your guests a really sweet kitty key chain. Whatever the favor is, it is a nice touch that is it something that relates to the bride and her life; it really shows that you took the time and made an effort to plan this shower in honor of the her. Always remember to have fun with your planning, because if you are not having fun with planning it you will allow yourself to make choices out of frustration and just wanting to be done with it. Give yourself plenty of time to plan and organize so that you won’t get burnt out. Good Luck!

4 Tips For a Spring Wedding

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

The birds are chirping, trees are budding, and flowers are popping up all over. Spring is in the air! What better time of year to have a wedding than in the spring with all it’s new life and new beginnings. Spring is very symbolic of starting your new life in wedded bliss. If you are romantic and sweet you couldn’t have picked a better time to get married. Let’s look at a few things that will help you pull together you spring wedding.

We will start with your choice of colors. It is important to pick colors that are relevant to the season. When you think of spring generally you think of two types of colors: bright vibrant colors and pretty pastels. If you are more of the carefree type I would suggest choosing bright vibrant colors such as lime green, hot pink, sunshine yellow, sky blue, and orange. If however, you are more the sweet and girly type, you will often be drawn to the beautiful array of pastels. At all costs when getting married in the spring, you want to avoid heavy, dark colors; they will only be a downer to what should be a cheery spring wedding.

When picking the decorations for the wedding ceremony and reception you should once again think about the season and what comes to mind. Flowers are a given, LOTS of flowers in fact, nothing will scream spring wedding more so than flowers. Decorating with birds is another great tie in with the season. They are pretty, small, and can be added to centerpieces. If you like to garden, or just like that garden tea party charm, add in some garden pots and wicker baskets; these will add a lot of whimsy and charm to your wedding.

Have all of your guests take home a spring wedding favor. In keeping with your theme, pick a favor that is a fond reminder of your wedding day. There are tons of really cute garden wedding favors for the bride that chooses to add this touch to her reception. One of my most favorite favors is the organic paper heart (comes in other shapes too) that is embedded with flower seeds. Your guests take it home, plant it, and will love the flowers that come from it! You can place the heart in a pretty pot, with printed directions, and tie a big ribbon around it. All of your guests will be gushing over this memorable favor.

When planning your menu you will want to keep it on the lighter side. Anything to heavy will cause the bright and airy atmosphere to drop into a sleepy lull. For those going with a full meal, choose chicken and fish, with seasonal veggies. Cheeses and wines are a great addition as well. If you want to be a bit different you could have a wine tasting during your reception, it is probably something most of your guests have always wanted to do, but never had the chance to try.

No matter what your perfect spring wedding picture is, I hope these pointers will come in handy when planning your wedding. Just remember, above all else, this is your day to shine; so take it all in, and enjoy every moment of it. This will be the best day of your life!

3 Tips For a Truly Unique Wedding

Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

Weddings are nothing new, since the beginning of mankind we have had some form of a wedding ceremony. There is something very special about two people committing their lives to each other until death. Through the years there have been massive changes in what the ceremony looks like and what it should consist of; often imposing very strict guidelines for what is and isn’t appropriate for the wedding. Today however, we are free to do almost anything we want for our ceremony. This opening of doors brings with it a new challenge; you don’t want to have the same old boring wedding as everyone else, yours has to be unique.

We all want our wedding to be as special as possible; this can happen by adding a few unconventional elements to your big day. We will look at a few ways you can do this in the next 3 tips.

Wearing white is not a must any more. The modern bride does not have to conform any more in her dress. Just a few years ago it would have been a scandal had the bride not worn white on her big day; this meant that you were not pure enough to wear it. But the standards for purity have changed, and with it you will no longer be seen as an outcast for wanting a dress that is not snow white. For the traditional bride there is a wide spectrum of whites, off-whites, and ivories to choose from. If you are on the bold side, then the sky if your limit. With designer gowns even showing up in black!

Have fun with your wedding favors. Unique wedding favors are all the rage right now. No one wants that tacky, tulle wrapped, Jordan almond favor anymore; come on, be honest, did any one every really like that gift? Your favor can be handmade or store bought, but it must say something to your guests, either about who you are as a couple, something that is special to your relationship, or something special that happened during your dating and engagement. Think outside the box with this, what is important is that your guests can tell you put thought into it.

No more boring wedding cakes, please! With all the cake shows on TV today, we have become used to seeing these amazing, one of a kind cakes; no longer will the cake that your great aunt baked be good enough. There are so many exciting techniques that cake designers use today, making each cake unique and special; completely customized to the couple. Take some time to interview several bakers, tasting their cakes and looking at past wedding cakes they have made. Of course the more ornate you get with the cake, the more expensive it will be. The cake shape has changed from basic round to any shape you can think of; a lot of modern brides will pick different shapes for the tiers of the cake, each with a different flavors. Picking more than one flavor is a great idea for a wedding over 100 people. With more people comes more preferences in taste, so offering a selection can be a nice change from the norm. More than every, you as a bride can have fun creating the perfect, unique, one of a kind wedding that you have always dreamed of.

1 Beautiful Wedding, 1 Special Wedding Favor

Friday, January 22nd, 2010
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

So many decisions !!!! I suppose my childhood ideals about what goes into making a wedding happen is a little different when it actually does happen. The simple “Yes, I will marry you,” is far from simple once you start thinking about planning your wedding, let alone the reality of it all.

I had barely said yes when my thoughts started racing and my heart started pumping, and all the while though it was probably only a few seconds - my fiance Michael sat there calmly and smiled at me. He handed his cell phone to me without a word: I grab it wanting to call my parents, my sisters and brother, and my best friend to tell them. How well he could anticipate my reaction some of the time, anyway. I told each of them to meet me at our folks in 20 minutes no excuses accepted.

Half an hour later we walked in. They were sitting in the living room, patiently waiting. I didn’t have to say a word. They stopped chatting, looked at us and knew. Then the hugs, the congratulations, and clamoring started. I left Michael to deal with them. I needed a good strong cup of coffee and a minute to breathe. I went into the kitchen, got coffee and then outside over to the gazebo and sat down. That’s when I decided I wanted to have our ceremony right here: where I had grown up: where my most cherished childhood memories began; and where my most cherished future memories would begin.

I must have been daydreaming because everyone had come outside and started asking when we wanted to get married, where, did we want a wedding planner, did we want a small, medium, or large wedding etc etc. And, on top of all that, each one had their own ideas/suggestions about who would do what. Mom was first. One of her best friends owned a catering house, and I don’t use that word “house” lightly. She had a house beautifully architect-ed and specifically designed to cater events, and an outstanding catering staff. It was a deliciously tempting suggestion.

My sister Gillian and her husband Ian were next. They had “wedding planner” friends. I knew who they were talking about. They were nice, and probably good, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use a professional planner. They must have seen me grimace some, but that didn’t faze them. They did their best to convince me otherwise well at least to think about it. If you knew my sister you’d know it was easier to say yes for now anyway.

My younger sister Amber and brother Josh were third. They had recently gone into the printing business with an old, mutual, friend and they were doing rather well. Amber was a really talented graphic artist and Josh was simply good at whatever he did, so I was inclined to let them take on the invitations plus. They knew it too … when you know you have a good thing you use it, and with Amber and Josh I did.

Melanie was my dearest friend and the way-out imaginative one. I was going to give her the fun chore of coming up with the wedding favors. She’d love it. Challenge and unique were right up there in her lexicon. She got this grand smile on her face and asked me what I thought about having miniature gazebos as music boxes with Michael’s and my song of choice for the music. I was delighted, as was everyone else. One potential headache resolved in advance. It should all fall into place this easily and quickly.

Well, my work was cut out for me and my family. Yes, I would give into to them. What choice did I have … they were my family and I knew, my heart knew, that they would want my wedding to be even more beautiful and memorable than even I could imagine. “All you need is love,” and we certainly had it.

Baby steps … we had just taken our first ones.

Tying My Wedding Together

Friday, January 22nd, 2010
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

I used to wonder sometimes about who ever thought of the expression “tying the knot.” I can understand its usage in wrapping gifts, using ropes to secure things in storms, and so on. But tying a knot in the context of a wedding would leave me baffled … until I started meeting with wedding planners and even friends who had “tied” the proverbial knot. I supposed, initially, I wasn’t open to interpretations other than my own. I sure didn’t want to think of my up-coming marriage as being knotted: that to me left little room for happy thoughts, let alone a happy marriage.

I was meeting with Dayle, my wedding planner, to talk about wedding favors among other things, but whenever we met the thought of knots interfered with my concentration as well as my helping her. I sat on it for a while that day, but then during lunch I couldn’t help myself and blurted out that the “knot” thing really bothered me. So many people used that term and it aggravated me. Wedding and knot when used together was an oxymoron as far as I was concerned. My marriage, my future life, and the event that was going to set all of that in motion were not going to be a knotted series of happenings. You could say I was rather obsessed with the whole idea of “tying the knot.” Well, Dayle looked at me and started laughing so hard I thought she was going to … well, you know what I mean…

After that one-person laugh fest, Dayle sat quietly for a few minutes, and then she took my hand kissed it smiled at me and told me to stop being such a little snob and so narrow minded. She was one of a few who could get away with talking to me like that. “Weddings are my business. You are getting married. I’m planning your wedding so you are now my business.” She told me I needed to consider the expression from a different perspective. Tying the knot was perhaps an overly used adage, but it was one that really defined the union, the eternal embrace between a husband and wife. She got me there. I could feel the semi-frown on my face turning into a smile … a big one. Dayle had a way with words; and her words were insightful enough to bowl me over.

We talked for hours about invitations, table lay-outs, general seating arrangements, photographers, and wedding favors. By the time we got to desert, she looked at me and asked if my stomach was in knots from everything we had to figure out and then plan out. (We giggled.) She was the kind of wedding planner that insisted on the bride’s and when possible the groom’s in-put and involvement. She might disagree and when she did it was for good cause, but she was usually right. She’d better be: she was the expert. I stared right back at her smiling, of course and said, “No knots there.” We talked for a bit longer then parted.

My mind was still focused on “tying the knot,” but my thinking about them had changed totally. I wanted our guests to have unique wedding favors, and I knew just what they would be. I would have a knot (approximately two inches long) designed out of a beautiful rose type wood origami style - engraved with the words “eternal love” on it for each guest. I sat in my car for a few minutes then I called Dayle and told her; she loved the idea. Everything was slowly coming together; and I was loving the thoughts of my “tying the knot” forever.

4 Ways to Keep Your Wedding Under Budget

Friday, January 22nd, 2010
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

There is nothing cheap about putting together a wedding. What should be one of the best times in your life can be a complete nightmare when you try to balance your budget with your dreams. There is no day in a woman’s life that she dreams of more than her wedding; shouldn’t she should be able to make it all come true without breaking the bank? That is why I have come up with a few helpful tips on things you can do to save money.

One of the first things I did when I started to plan my wedding was grab a piece of paper, a pen, and my fianc to sit down and brainstorm about all the things we’d love to see and have at our wedding. There was nothing structured about it; we scribbled notes all over the piece of paper, it was just a brainstorm. We wrote down anything and everything that came to mind. About an hour later we took a long look at what we had come up with, really talking about each thing. We broke everything down into 3 groups; things we had to have, things we really wanted, and things that would be fun, but not needed. This helped us to focus on the important things and not waste a bunch of money on things we could do without.

Pick one or two big-ticket items. Ever woman has that part of the wedding that she will spare no expense for. It could be (and usually is) the dress, photographer, DJ, the wedding cake, or any other thing. Decide what these items are for you so that you can plan your budget accordingly; all other areas are where you will cut costs.

If at all possible, having your wedding and reception in the same place is a great way to save a lot of money. There is no reason to pay for two buildings. If you are a member of a church, often you can use the building for free and only pay cleaning costs. If not, finding a venue where you can rent two adjoining rooms will often give you a huge discount on the rental fees. This also saves your out of town guests a lot of hassle and stress trying to find and get to the second location.

Lastly, you’ll want to make sure you have wedding favors for all your guests, but these can be really pricey. Instead of looking in stores for your favors, there are a ton of great resources online for really unique wedding favors that won’t break the bank. Shopping online for these allows you to be able to compare products and prices, and saves you time and money. You want to make sure that your favor says something about you as a couple and your wedding. If you are having a wedding in December you may want to buy some Christmas bulbs and have your name and wedding date put on them; you would be shocked to see how much you can save by buying a favor like that on line compared to what you would pay in a store.

I really hope I have been able to help you in finding ways to cut some of the cost out of your wedding. I know how tempting it can be to go overboard of such a special day, but you will feel much better afterwords if you can avoid spending your entire life savings. Good luck to you and your future spouse.

4 Excellent Tips And Suggestions For Planning A Spectacular Winter Alpine Wedding

Monday, December 21st, 2009
Scentsy | Flameless Candles | Wickless Candles

This winter many brides will be looking for unique and special wedding themes. For most they will already be hold their Christmas theme wedding in the days before Christmas. This can be challenging as you look for different themes that will not be a repeat of winter wonderland or holiday themes. You don’t want something that is even similar to another person’s ceremony and reception. This is your special day and it should be as unique and individual as you and your groom. One idea that might work is an Alpine wedding. It allows you to offer a winter wedding from a fresh perspective that is not just snow and ice.

First there is the location for the ceremony. If you live near a ski resort it would be quite simple to rent the location for the wedding. Of course you need to make sure that it fits your budget. This will be a perfect location that matches the theme to a tee. Another option is to decorate the venue you choose to look like a chateau in the mountains. You can use different decorations from cuckoo clocks to other quaint and home decorations to get the same effect. At the same time you need to focus on balancing out your decorations to create a tasteful and creative look.

The next thing to focus on will be the floral arrangements. It would be a great idea is to use well known flowers or foliage that could be found in alpine locations. It can also be done by using popular flowers in a sparing fashion. One idea is to use white flowers such as roses. Make sure that for more costly arrangements that you have shopped around and budgeted enough for them in your budget for your wedding. Also try to consult an experienced florist who will know what great winter flowers that you can use are in your themed ceremony and reception.

The reception will allow freer reign with decorating more closely to your theme. The goal in decorating the ceremony decorating was to do so by your theme but also keeping in mind the solemn and important ceremony of exchanging your vows. So it makes sense to try avoiding making it look like a cheap cookie cutter Las Vegas chapel wedding. The reception is different since you are having a more festive celebration so more comical and more thematic decorations can be used. Also try to find or make creative and original centerpieces since these will be a key part of your reception decorations. One idea is to have centerpieces shaped like small chateaus surrounded by similarly shaped place card holders.

The winter reception menu will follow in general the same menu you would serve during any other winter wedding theme. You should start with a warm soup or stew and continue to main entre which can be roast beef, ham, or some sort of roasted poultry. You can add more interesting accents with mulled or spiced wine and popular winter desserts. You can also try French cuisine if you are going for a Swiss Alps theme. The most important thing to do is to research foods for your theme and try to pick the ones you feel match it the best. Don’t be afraid to choose signature dishes.

Finally send your guests off with souvenirs of the entire event with original and impressive wedding favors. Try to make them match your theme. You can choose items that are fun or useful, or you can go with an edible treat.
