You’re Never Too Old to Start Another Business

I’ve found that it’s pretty darn hard to find a good-paying job after you reach the age of sixty six. There are some outfits that will hire you as an independent sales rep. because they pretty much don’t have any real obligations towards you other that paying commissions. They know that by having a lot of sales people out there, the odds are better for them to capture the few sales available in this economy. They are also prepared for a heavy turnover in reps. I employed independent sales reps. myself back when I owned a business. That’s why I’m familiar with the policies of other businesses and what they can do, will do and will not do when it comes to independent sales reps. Their goal is to make sales and profits just so long as it’s legal. The more independent reps. out there selling, the better the company’s odds of getting some deals. So, if a former retiree like me doesn’t cut it you can believe I won’t be missed. Even though I am highly qualified I wasn’t having any luck obtaining any kind of hourly or salaried position. All this was going on before the economy took a dive and job-loss numbers began sky-rocketing. Because of this ongoing economic tragedy I came to believe I’d have to do something totally different. I knew for sure I would NOT be a WalMart greeter or one of those people cleaning a McDonald’s lobby. I emulated the younger man I once was by putting on my thinking cap and gathering up my courage. I soon discovered that it would be relatively easy to begin an Internet business with the computer sitting on my desk. Luckily, it would cost me little or no money to do so, too. I learned something about becoming an affiliate, found some great companies and enlightened myself as to the income I could make. Then I dove into the ways I could promote my businesses. Some cost me nothing and some cost me a lot less than I make in profits. Also, because these are legitimate businesses the expenses are tax-deductible. I have customers from all fifty states. I also draw from Canada and the entire free world. The fact that products and services are being provided is a real plus because it means people other than myself are working and making a living. My efforts on the Internet cause this to be a win/win situation. I enjoy the luxury of not having to work my business for eight hours each day. I can if I want but it’s not always necessary. Another perk is that with an internet connection I can run my business from beneath a palm tree while holding a cold umbrella drink if that’s what I’m in the mood to do. It’s nice to report that my profitable Internet business rewards me (even at sixty six) in a troublesome economy. Staying at home or travel are now just choices. I’m not bragging when I say that I can do whatever I want. My affiliate businesses allow these things for me. Perhaps my new life appeals to you, too. How secure is your job?
