We have seven energy centers in our bodies, which are called chakras. The second energy center is called the Sacral Chakra. It is located just a few inches below the belly button at the spine depth.

The element for this chakra is water. The Sacral energy center is concerned with the fluidic functions of the body. It represents creativity, sexuality, and balancing emotions. It is the home of the vital force. When it is open, it brings grace, intuition and depth of feeling.

It will stimulate hope and optimism on an emotional level. The sense for the Sacral chakra is taste. This energy center is influenced by whether and how emotions were repressed or expressed during our years as children.

If this chakra is under-active, it can be represented by certain illnesses such as arthritis. Anger, frustration and resentment are common negative emotions. Other characteristics can be fearful, shy, guilt, timid, self loathing, abusive and impotent.

With this energy center in balance, it will be easy to relate well to others. Interactions between persons will be smooth and effective. Other characteristics are friendly, sense of humor, intuitive, empathetic and radiate warmth.

Characteristics of an over-active second chakra can be manipulative, aggressive, and overly self-indulgent. They may view others a sex objects. They can also be emotionally explosive and is usually caught up in illusions.

The color is orange for this energy center. Certain stones can be used to help gain balance and they are carnelian, coral, amber, citrine, topaz, and orange spinel. The demon for this center is guilt.

Senses can be used to help raise your vibrational frequency and balance this chakra. Since the main sense is taste, try eating foods with a lot of flavor and spice. Enjoy the texture and flavor of each bite. Keep each in your mouth for a minimum 15 seconds and try to take small bites.
